Very good and versitile
Ive had this a few months now so good time to review. It's small and compact. I use it for GPS on my phone for navigation and geocaching. It's much better than my Garmin GPS unit under tree cover. It finds satellites very quickly too.It connects effortlessly to my Samsung Galaxy phone. The 10Hz feature has it's place as a motorcycle data logger on track days coupled with apps on the phone and it works perfect. The phone logs the data and it works under the bike seat!!.The housing is reasonable quality, the selector switch on the side is a bit cheap and not that positive in use. It has a rubberised underside which is handy when on the car dash, etc. Battery seesm to go on for ages, I havent run it down yet so can't say how long it lasts, it charges quickly too.Overall, it's a great little gadget and very useful. I would recommend and would buy again.

Very good but....
For the first two weeks I loved this product. I used it in the motorhome in conjunction with Co Pilot on my mobile. It quickly got a signal from the satellites and the battery life was excellent. Sadly thereafter it wouldn't pair with the Bluetooth GPS app on my phone. I contacted the manufacturers and they confirmed the unit was faulty. I got in touch with Amazon, who immediately sent out a replacement. This one works fine, but it has left me nervous that it will let me down again. Wouldn't be good if we were on the continent.

Does not work with iPhone
I bought this after a friend recommended it (I was impressed and it seemed to work really well with his android phone)A quick search of the internet tells me that this is incompatible with iPhones (and other iOS devices). I found out the hard way and had to do a return. This could be made much clearer in the text above.

Does what it says on the tin
Good little gadget, good battery life and gets reception ok, although I havent tried it anywhere difficult yet.I got very confused to start with as the bluettooth light wouldnt come on in the 5hz mode...and for ages it wouldnt pair, then i tried in the other mode and it would pair...and then worked in the original mode!

Works good, when works
Works good, when works. But stopped working. Maybe it was to much in the sun (racing car, by the windshield during hot day).

Perfect companion for RaceChrono (Nokia E61)
I bought this Bluetooth GPS Receiver for use with RaceChrono on Nokia E61.First I configured Q818XT mode switch for 5Hz DGPS witch is said to be the best mode for lap timing.I have used duct tape to tape the GPS in the cabin near the motorcycle dashboard and then E61 in the pocket of my leathers. So far five track days and zero problems. Very good reception and quick fix on satellites.Very good product!

Bluetooth GPS and permissions
I wanted a high performance GPS to go with an Android tablet; internal GPSs tend to get poor comments. The GPS to sit on top of the panel in a Cessna and give me moving map capability and no cables. The Qstarz works great (at the 1 Hz speed - a cable usb connect is required for the 10Hz stuff). The Qstarz needs 'fake location' set to run as detailed in the booklet. Different apps require/use different permissions; so beware. I had to set 'fake GPS' permission on with a particular app to get it to work but other apps would not work with both setting set on.The standard charger needs a 12 volts car 'lighter' supply; so it is charge it in the car or with a spare 12 volt battery. The internal battery lasts a good time; so fit for purpose!

Accurate GPS - usually 12 feet
The GPS is better accuracy than my LG G5 smartphone's built in. There are a number of configuration settings if you feel you want to adjust them but information about what they do requires research. And the software takes a bit of finding and setting up. I bought it because my LG G5 GPS needed resetting frequently (a design fault). With this Qstarz BT I could choose to buy any phone now, if I need to upgrade. The accuracy is very good (usually 12 feet, have seen 10 feet) - under trees it's about 18 feet. The old GPS satellite system seems fine in UK (it's now an older GPS chip). Took awhile to work out how to set up OruxMaps to get a accurate tracklog - OruxMaps has a ton of settings!
