Weaving with Wire is the book the weaving community has needed for a long time. Other textile publications on working with wire have been broad in the techniques and only touched on weaving or were limited in scope. This book is a workshop all by itself!Weaving with wire is a different experience than weaving with more traditional yarns. It's stiff and wants to go places you don't want it to. Weaving with Wire's author, Christine Miller does a wonderful job sharing her experience, knowledge, and insight to get the reader started. I appreciated how she started with information about wire, tools, and more. Her descriptions of warping with wire are so helpful. Plus, I love that she offers up more than one technique for controlling wire since one-size-doesn't-fit-all.The 'foundation' project is well-suited for weavers who want to put a proverbial toe in the world of wire weaving. The photos of finished pieces are beautiful and it's admirable that she included images of her work along with images of other fiber artists.I'm impressed at the price of this book too. The list price is $34.99 and this book packs a lot of bang for the buck on the pages. For any weaver considering weaving with wire, this book is a must-have. And, every weaving guild in the world should have this book in its library.

This book might appear to be concerned with a niche within a niche. All weavers in particular and, more broadly, any artist will be rewarded with a closer look. For the beginner, Miller teaches the practical aspects of a complex and rewarding craft, beginning with the site of creativity (the loom, materials, and tools) and leading to richly rewarding insights of what is possible in the craft. More experienced weavers will find, especially in Parts 3 and 4, a detailed tutorial on intricate and beautiful craft techniques that may well be unavailable through other venues. Part 5, “An Artistic Framework” could easily stand on its own as a course for the serious artist of any craft. Here Miller’s short course on success as an artist will demonstrate the necessity of one’s “artistic framework,” list and explain the habits of successful artists (no matter the media) and demonstrate how to apply those practices to design and concept. Altogether, an excellent reference not merely for the weaver or the weaver of metal, but for all artists who want to become serious practitioners of their craft.

This is a book that I'm happy to have even if I never weave any wire. The section about design is great. Many of the tips for weaving with wire would be handy even if weaving with another fiber. The author is generous with her information.

Christine Miller's Weaving with Wire book is an inspirational and well written book. This fiber artist/teaching artist has been weaving with wire for years, and I'm thrilled that she is sharing her wisdom and experience with readers! Christine's teaching experience shines through, as she balances providing clear instructions while leaving plenty of room for creativity. Sure to be a classic text in the fiber arts world!

This is a wonderful, and complete instructional and informative book on weaving with wire. I highly recommend it!

Book is not in kindle format. It is extremely small print even after zooming in. Photos are low resolution and blur when zoomed on. It’s really disappointing to purchase a kindle book and not have it be in the correct format. I do not recommend purchasing the kindle edition.
