All have sprouted
I got the bare root asparagus in late March. I soaked them in warm water, prepped ground with organic matter, and planted them in trenches 10" deep, as instructed. I planted them in a raised garden bed, in rich, well draining soil, with plenty of compost. It is now last days of April, and I have not seen any shoots come up. I sent a message to the seller, and they sent me planting instructions. I already planted the roots, obviously. Instructions on how to do it aren't helpful. I paid $20+ for 10 roots, and it looks like this was a waste of my money. If anything comes up (miraculously), I would be happy to change this rating, but I am not holding my breath.UPDATE: 5/2/24--I carefully dug up my crowns, to see if any of them lived. 7 out of 10 showed signs of life, so I added a bit of sand and compost and planted them closer to the surface. 10" deep is quite deep, especially if soil is heavy and fertile. 7 started shoots. The other 3 have not done anything, but I am not loosing hope yet. If all 10 live, I will update my rating. If not, I am grateful that it wasn't a complete waste of money.Update 5/9/24: all roots have sprouted. They sprouted on different dates, making me wonder if all of them were fully healthy and alive, but yes--I have 10 asparagus plants growing. Thank you!

Growth but came moldy
Some of the crowns came damaged with mold but there is still some stunted growth. Over all worth it, just a bit disappointing.

Came dried out
Planted them as soon as it came, but they never took off. Planted according to directions, gave them several weeks with plenty of water to rehydrate.
