Perfect to get your older Homelink to work with newer garage openers
My car is 10+ years old and has Homelink buttons built-in for the garage door, but it doesn't directly work with the brand new opener I installed. This product was the solution. For me it was 3 simple steps:1. Plug in the main unit near your new garage opener2. Use the included remote to (re)program your car's garage opener buttons3. Use the "Learn" or "Program" process of the garage door opener to add in the button in your car as a new remote controlThe whole process took me about 5 minutes. And I put the main unit in a plug on the ceiling of my garage, so I had to do a bit of climbing for that, but I wanted it very close to the opener, and don't have many outlets in my garage. It works great and now all our vehicles can open the garage when we come home.

Excellent product
I had talked with garage door opener contractor about a new opener. However he told me there wasn’t any way for the new opener to work with my old Homelink in my truck. I told HIM about this product and he said he’d never heard of it. Needless to say I didn’t hire him and just ordered a new opener and this adapter at the same time. It saved me over a $1000 dollars by doing it myself. And this adapter works great! Highly recommend this product and was very easy to install.

Only solution I have found, but make sure you really need it (tips included)
I purchased a few of these to solve a problem with my older vehicle (2017) not working with my new garage door opener. Seems that older Homelink automobiles are not compatible with the newer Chamberlain garage door openers. The solution is to purchase these devices. You need one for each garage door opener that is incompatible. They can't be shared between multiple garage door openers. There is no physical connection between the Compatibility Bridge and the garage door opener. The device works by "translating" the older signal into a signal understood by the new garage door opener. This is all done through the air. The only connection required is AC power to the device. Typically, garage door openers are connected via a 120VAC plug in the ceiling of the garage. With the garage door plugged into one side of the outlet, the Compatibility Bridge could be plugged into the other. If both are taken, a cheap splitter can be plugged in.The device includes a transmitter and receiver. You use the transmitter to program the Homelink in your older vehicle. For example, you would take the included transmitter and store the transmit code just as you would normally in your older Homelink compatible car. Once you store the transmitter code in the older vehicles, you can put the remote away, as it is no longer needed. I keep mine in-case I lose the programming in the vehicle. If you have more than one, I'd label it so you don't have to try to figure out what it was for many years down the road. Each transmitter is paired with a Compatibility Bridge, so if you have more than one, you need to keep track of who is paired to who. After you have the older vehicles programmed, you simply push learn on the garage door opener and press the previously programmed button in the car. You may have to hold the button for a while. For some reason, I need to hold the button down for a longer time than normal to get the garage door to respond. This is one of the con's for this device for me.The receiver has an antenna wire hanging down from it. It should be installed such that it is as close to the garage door opener as possible, but in a position that is on a straight line to the vehicle entering the garage (not behind metal, for example). I hang mine beside the garage door opener and it works fine.I find that the cars using this device don't activate the garage door opener as far away as the newer ones, and that I have to hold the button in the car down longer. It's a slight pain, but so far - it's the only solution I know of.Bonus tip 1: Some cars (Audi, for example), have sensors that operate at the same frequency as the newer garage door openers. This interferes with the programming for these types of cars. The solution is to locate/pull the fuse for the sensor, program the garage door, and then reinsert the fuse. For some reason, the sensor does not interfere with the operation of the garage door opener - only the programming. Before you resort to a Compatibility Bridge, I'd recommend doing a little sleuthing on the internet to make sure your cars sensors are not the culprit.Bonus tip 2: Sometimes it may be necessary to clear the codes from the garage door openers (or the opener loses the codes, or you install a new or replacement garage door opener). When the issue is in the garage door opener, you don't need to clear the codes in the car before you reprogram. The codes (already stored in the car), just need to be reprogrammed in the garage door opener. You do this buy simply pressing the learn button on the garage door opener and pressing the associated button in the car. Viola! the previously stored code in the car is programmed into the garage door opener. Of course, if the car is the one that lost the codes, it will need to be reprogrammed into both the car and the garage door opener. This devices works OK. I wish they would have explained the theory of operation a little better. For me, it has reduced range and makes me hold the button down in the car longer to get the door to open. That's the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5.

It Works
I got new garage doors and openers and neither of my vehicles (2001 Sequoia and 2009 Ram 2500) Homelink was compatible with the new openers. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this product but was pleasantly surprised. With just one unit I was able to get both openers connected to both vehicles allowing me to remove the remotes from both.

Does not work
Beyond frustrated with Chamberlain, not only did I spend 40 dollars for a feature that should have been included from the beginning but it just flat out does not work. I went through the setup steps 7 times and the best I got was a one time close. I'm tired of the ugly remotes and I want the buttons in my car that are designed for this to work but they just flat out do not. Chamberlain is an awful company and I regret ever giving them money.

Solved my connection problem!
Was trying to connect an older car to a new overhead garage door opener with an older hand unit. Called company, they told me it was never gonna work, don’t waste your time, just get the updated one. Which I did, and immediately solved my problems.

Programing Tip
Had a new top of line Liftmaster opener installed a few weeks ago. The Homelink worked with the 2023 Santa Fe but not with the 2011 Lexus RX. The installer then installed the RPTR bridge. Same problem! After viewing several You Tube videos I concluded that if it was going to work at all I needed the newer RPTRMC and later confirmed my conclusion with Homelink. I purchased the RPTRMC but I had a great deal of difficulty getting it to link with the 2011 Lexus until I finally got someone at Homelink with a suggestion that worked. That suggestion was to plug the bridge into an extension cord so that it could be closer the the vehicle on the initial set up. After that it could be unplugged and moved to its permanent location. It finally worked. The entire reason for this review is the hope that this suggestion will help others who may be experiencing the same difficulty. As I side note, while I like the new Liftmaster opener, I am very disappointed that I had to go thru all of this with a top of line opener not to mention the extra cost involved. As for as I am able to determine, this seems to be a problem with Liftmaster and Chamberlin openers. I wish I knew that when I opted for the "best." Looking back I could have purchased a lesser model of a different brand at a big box store; had it installed, and would not have had this problem. All at almost half the cost. Lesson learned.
