Wonderful Feeder!
My kitty was getting a bit fat, so I needed to reduce her food intake. It is a tad difficult to figure out the settings to figure out the amount of food. It's easy enough to set the schedule, you just have to watch to see how much food drops down to figure out the portions you need. After some trial & error, I figured out she needed the least amount of food 3 times a day. This not only works to keep portion control, it works great for those who are not home. It's perfect for cat owners! We can go away for a weekend and not worry about feeding (or over feeding) our cats. I chose this one as it has a power cord with a back-up battery. I have terrible luck with batteries (they always seem to be dead or die just when I need them) so it's best for me to know I have a reliable power source. The batteries are for if the power goes out. I've had this for over 6 months with no issues at all. Also, the stainless steel dish removes easily for cleaning.

Amazing product!
My previous review is below[Updated review] 3/22/24I previously stated that the battery compartment was faulty. That is the furthest thing from the truth. The reason I said it was because I didn't know that after changing the settings or whatever you're doing on the screen it goes into a "locked mode" to prevent your pooch 🐶 from pressing the buttons (Genius!) so I wasn't aware of it so when I was pressing all the buttons except the correct one to take it out of that mode. I thought it wasn't responding because the batteries kept getting disconnected due to it being faulty.I should've figured it was fine when I discovered in the morning that food had dispensed that it was a me issue and not the dispenser.I really do highly recommend this dispenser it's great as long as you use the safety strap to keep the top closed.TL;DRGreat product with many dispensing times highly recommended. When you're done adjusting the settings the screen will lock and you'll need to press the top left button to adjust the settings again. Lastly it is wise to utilize the safety strap that comes with it.[Previous review]I'll start with the positives of this product. It does hold a lot of food! I don't have to constantly refill the food as fast as I do with my other automatic feeder.Setting up the time and feeding schedule is easy (as long as you read the instructions first) there is a lot of feeding time slots. They have them labeled as Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There's even brunch options in between them and a 5th and 6th meal too.Unfortunately there is a big negative when it comes to the product. The battery compartment doesn't hold the batteries in well.Whenever I put the batteries in and my dog moves it a little too much (not knocking it over or anything) when she eats from it or sniffs around it too hard the batteries seem to pop out and it loses power (obviously) so if I'm not constantly checking on it to ensure that the batteries didn't pop out again she won't get fed.I've had to do the process of turning the whole feeder upside down, undoing the battery compartment, fixing the batteries, closing the compartment, and then resetting the current time at least 6 times and I've only used it for only 4 days. It's quite irritating.I did use the power cord for the first day (before I could buy the required 4AA batteries) and my puppy chew it right up. I was devastated but it was my fault because I should've known to have the batteries before using the product. The product could be really great if it wasn't for this battery issue.I am going to try and macgyver it and see if I can figure out a solution, if not I will unfortunately be returning it because it would be useless to me.(I will come back with an update)

You get what you pay for. Works without extra features.
Setting the time of day for feeding is easy and the dispenser works well. The lid is secure thanks to the velcro strap. It is a lower priced item, so you can't actually control portion size. It would be nice if the manual included a table for ounces for US based customers.

Simple and effective, fully self sufficient
A few years ago I made the mistake of buying half a dozen 'smart' pet feeders for my cats. A month after investing close to a thousand dollars, that other company went belly up. Those feeders *required* internet connection not just for programming, but to work at all. With company cloud servers gone - the most valuable part of that purchase was the boxes my cats played in.So this time - I wanted something that could work entirely off grid. I converted a bed room in my home to a cat room, subdivided into suites for each of my cats (currently 11 indoor!) with private bed, scratcher, toys and feeder - with access controlled by microchip. My PitPet feeders are a crucial part of that set up. I can control each cats diet. With up to six separate portion controlled meals, I minimize prevent scarf and barf. With each feeder calling its cat by name at meal time it creates a fun symphony of sounds at meal town as cats are called, come running, food drops, and doors click open. Bigger cats get bigger portions, everybody gets the best food for their personal health conditions and I can even leave home for a few days without having to worry.Setup is simple on these devices. In almost 18 months of use I've had zero issue with reliability. The only heads up: if you have a particularly ambitious feline, the security strap may not be sufficient. One of my boys was able to flip the feeder and pull off the velcro for a feast. I've constructed a barrier wedging feeder in place to prevent that, and all of the other cats have been fine with it free standing as shipped. The internal clock is reliable. While it certainly is not able to sync with atomic clock it perfectly does its job. A 'drift' of maybe a minute over the course of several full months really is negligible. Between power adapter and AA battery backup, power outages aren't a concern, and the removable steel bowl and food reservoir make for easy cleaning. All said and done - this is a very solid product at an incredible price. Thrilled I found it, as are my cats. If you want bells and whistles and dependance on someone else paying their bills - get an expensive soon to be brick. If you want reliability and consistency, this is it.Doing some improvements with my cat suites, but since my youngest kittens are demanding SnapCat and OnlyPaws fame - I'll be uploading video and photos of this setup (and them) soon @kenskreweYou'll get a kick out of how they come running when PitPet calls!
