EXTREMELY well packed and protected for Shipment. No joke. Comes with a very well protected (in its own screw down plastic case) 200 Gram calibrating weight. Best use is to have a dedicated space for the scale; set it up; and plug it in; and let it heat up - and just leave it ON all the time - on a surge protected & battery backup circuit. For accurate results - the scale must be level and 'heated up' and temp acclimated to the surroundings. Glass doors all around. Hook is for weighing something less than 220G - that cannot fit into the window box above. Breezes and such would reduce accuracy while doing this. A stand to put the scale on and use the Hook - is NOT included. I would build my own. Accuracy: 0-50g [+/- 0.5mg] / 50-200g [+/- 1mg] / 200-220g [+/- 1.5mg] The scale does state on the side MINIMUM weight is 10mg. But we were weighing way less than that - no problem. I didn't see what the 'hook' was used for - contacted the seller (Crispaire) and Chris responded soon after with images, explanation, etc. Overall I am happy with the purchase. If you were doing Nuclear Science explosive type weight ratios of extremely small substances - you might wish to spend a bunch more on a scale. But this scale is accurate - it is Class 1 [Precision Lab Work] defined & rated. And you can read about the various scale accuracy Classes online. For example 'Adam Equipment - the Right Balance' has some good info. And much more expensive scales.
