* What is a VPN?This utility protects your computer's security while online. You connect to your ISP. Then you initiate the VPN software. Their search engines retrieve the data you request, then create a digital tunnel to send these webpages to your device, protecting your identity and hiding your computer's identifying features. Your web traffic usually uses HTTPS in 128 or 256 bits anyway. NordVPN encrypts your communications on top of this HTTPS security. Brute force to crack AES 128 bit on this would take a billion years. To crack AES 256 is currently impossible and resilient to brute force attempts. To crack a VPN, a single key would take, the researchers estimated, it would take about a year and a few 100 Million dollars to build a powerful computer that would be able to crack a single 1024-bit Diffie-Hellman prime. There are ways around applying a brute force attack, like trying to trip the software up can work. Is it possible that an authority, such as the cops, could ask your ISP for a log of the websites you visit? Yes.* Had any experience with this utility before?This is the start of my third year using this utility and I feel more secure with this repeatedly purchased software.* Installation experienceI wasn't given any warning in time, say a week in advance would have been nicer. It just popped up that my usage has expired. So I chose to buy it through Amazon. Amazon quickly - within 15 minutes - sent me an email with its activation code. I printed this out and switched from my Standard account and to an Administrative account to install this. If this is your first experience with NordVPN, you need to set up an account with them. As a repeat customer, I logged in to my account. You need to take care and select the correct activation code for your new NordVPN utility, and not confuse this with the code of the previous expired version. I downloaded this new version from the official website of NordVPN. It's a bit of a search on the NordVPN website to find the panel into which you enter the new activation code. After this, it's easy sailing. You can pay monthly through the NordVPN website if you wish.* What is it like?The G.U.I. is redesigned and has performance updates. The two features of Threat Protection and File Sharing I turned both off. The first stopped my YouTube Premium account from accessing its services. There are features under Threat Protection, Web Protection, File Protection, and Vulnerability Protection. These can be turned off as well as on. They are off by default. As of today, 14 March 2024, I have automatically downloaded and received a new version of nordVPN and it is working. Based on previous ownership for two years before this version, this is expected for better security and performance fixes.For a few months, I have been surfing YouTube lectures about the Linux command line. You need to repeat these online lectures to get it. Don't feel dumb if you have to go over it even several times. And hand-in-hand, I have more recently been connecting to in-the-cloud Linux servers. This service has many distros available to choose from. And it's allowing me to try the Linux command line and the GUI out with the lowest hassle. With the lecture and cloud practical sessions working together. You let the WWW take the strain. It's so far free. A real course in features of Linux can reach over £1500 for a three-day course by I.T. accredited tutors. And it's designed to increase my knowledge of how to use Linux OS. Starting with driving the Linux Mint Cinnamon 22. distro. To do this. it's required to turn the NordVPN off or else I cannot connect. After the session, I turn the NordVPN back on.* Problems and their solution?On some rare times, 2 times a year, the NordVPN stopped responding in Windows 10. I investigated the support files on the NordVPN website for these features that when applied, helped me sort the problems by myself. If it's still not working, see and select in the Application tree, 'NordVPN Diagnostic', then click on 'Network Flush'. Reboot and try the application again. If this when retested, does not repair the problem, then click and select from 'NordVPN diagnostics' and click on 'Reset the App'. And then reboot. If it still will not work, you need to go to your Administrative level account, 'Control Panel', select 'Program and Features', and then click on and uninstall this application. Then click on and download from the NordVPN website the latest ' NordVPN installer for Windows.' And install this again. These methods are from the help files provided by NordVPN and have worked for me.Occasionally, my antivirus informs me that my IP is viewable. To solve this, I just need to reboot and it's fixed.* SummaryThe utility is a much more secure session when online. Its most protective use is when on a laptop and ina public unencrypted WiFi network, like a cafe, an airport or a cinema. My cousin put me on VPNs. Paying for a VPN, such as NordVPN, makes for a more secure online session. It's better to use a paid one as the free ones, such as come with the antivirus are limited in several ways and are annoying to use. Even the premium antivirus can have a flaky free VPN. I recommend buying a subscription to such services for reliable protection.

I have been using ipvanish for 3 years and had no problems at all. I am on 1GB internet ant my speed is always constant 980-1gb. When the vpn is connected it rarely drops below 850mb. Lately my vpn has been disconnecting and I can’t use it. I have ran through troubleshooting with them and they couldn’t fix it keep saying it was a problem my end. 1 day it would work fine for a few days then not at all for a day or so. Anyway I decided to give up and try someone else. After reading the reviews I thought I will go with a good provider instead of a cheap one. Purchased Nord from Amazon a year subscription. As you can see from the pictures. 1 is my internet speed with nord turned off. The other 2 are when the vpn is turned on and connected to 2 different servers. 1 was fastest available and the other was USA fastest available. As you can see pathetic so I wouldn’t bother buying.Update after using for a few months its still the same it says connected to the internet and it wont even load webpages up. if I remote desktop into the computer downstairs which has nord running on it I get kicked every few minutes. honestly don't bother its useless and customer service say its my computer I have 3 computers in the house all wired tried on every one of them and its the same i have also tried it on my laptop connected to a 5g router and its the same. internet in the house works perfect without the nord VPN turned on as soon as I turn it on to access a site I need forget it.

Solid VPN never had any issues. I only use VPN so not bothered about all extra bits and think good value for offer around black Friday

I was hoping this was a good VPN considering it is always on Youtube ads as the fastest and most reliable but sadly this hasn't been my experienceWhen this does work it is fantastic but I either need to restar the app halfway through using it as it magically stops working. It can often take a good 5 minutes to loads some pages when in use but 9 times out of 10 an app start often works. I would recommend but these small issues are annoying considering they say they are reliable and the fastest VPN compared to Surfshark..
