I’ve used L-theanine several times throughout the years. Though never this brand.L-theanine is a fantastic compound, though it can be misunderstood. In my experience, for the first few doses you will feel absolutely amazing, especially if you have anxiety. Very calm, mellowed, focused. After a few doses, this effect is much less pronounced. At a certain point (~400mg) you get diminishing returns whilst skyrocketing your tolerance, therefore keep it at a fair dose. Using this everyday for over a month now, I find it really makes a difference over time.I have 1 scoop (200mg I believe?) in my coffee 3x per day, if I’ve forgotten to include it then I always know because I’ll have the jitters, be shakey and more anxious. It is best paired with caffeine but this is not necessary.L-theanine crosses the blood brain barrier and appears to have activity on neurotransmitter GABA - naturally produced in brain for relaxation and is also affected by alcohol and benzodiazepines. Although L-theanine is much more subtle than these.I will never have caffeine again without this, they synergise one another very well, it balances out the negative effects while maintaining concentration and energy levels from caffeine.I rarely use it at night, but when I do I notice I have very intense dreams which suggests it improves or increases my REM stage of sleep.My conclusion: excellent stuff. If you find yourself drowsy from use, then lower the dose. If you find you don’t feel an effect, raise the dose up to 400mg, no more than 600mg. Even then, give it a couple months with regular use and you should find the real improvements come then.

I very rarely write reviews but I love l-theanine, have been taking it in various forms for a long time but until now have not really decided on a favourite brand. I tried this Redwells powder last time - am just finishing the pouch so am reordering. Very happy with it. I think this is high quality stuff as it takes effect quickly and enables me to focus calmly and clearly - and to rest if I take a larger dose. I'd recommend taking it sublingually - I've taken to powders as kept breaking capsules as I emptied them under my tongue and although you can crunch tablets and I always have some tabs in reserve and for travelling they do contain other things so why not just get a pure powder? I take a level to heaped scoop with a bit of water, leaving some under my tongue to dissolve. I heartily recommend this powder, am so pleased to have found a clear favourite brand, I can finally stop searching/humming and hahing for an hour looking for different sorts each time I run out!

The effect of theanine is more or less subtle depending on the individual, I think. I've had it from several different sources and this brand does the job.

Great quality and in good packaging. Even comes with a little 0.5g scoop which is attached outside the bag so I didn’t have powder everywhere looking for it in the pouch. Will buy again
