Great book !
Great informative book ! This book was written over 30 years ago and it has crucial information , now days we have been scared and brainwashed about illness! Ignore the comments about the Dr Mendelsohn recommendations with whiskey- 30-40-50 years ago was normal, even gripe water contained alcohol . We are reading between the lines - Dr Mendelsohn wrote only truths in this book! I highly recommend it - I don’t agree with giving alcohol to children but at those times it was considered normal to give few drops . I remember my grandmother used to make some chicken pox remedy with red wine and honey and other stuff and we used to drink it and the chicken pox was gone in couple of days , it was something to do with the combination and the disease responding to red wine ! Anyway good book to have

Factual, believable,helpful, easy to read!
So far I've enjoyed his writing style and find him likeable and trustworthy....as much as you can from reading a few chapters and getting a snap-shot of someone. I bought this re. my doubts about immunising my baby after my midwife strongly recommended at least waiting til he could walk ( the brain is more fully developed by then) . I myself became ill following jabs at primary school ( debilitating joint swelling and tiredness) and I can't bring myself to risk that for my son. He's strong , alert and ...so far...perfect..I want to help keep him that way as well as I can. So...this book purchase is one of many sources I'll be referring to on this issue and many others to help me make informed choices for this magic little man ;)

Must read for every parent. So much truth!!!
I wish I read this book before my first 2 girls were born... This book explains how paediatricians are educated, what they learn, how then they go to earn some extra money and how little they know about human's natural immune system. When you take this into consideration you start understanding why parents need to look after their children's health themselves. Eye opening information. Nothing has changed since this book has been written.I read only half of this book and I've got a very needed advice for my baby boy's condition, which I couldn't find answer to on Google. However, be aware that after reading this book you might never look for health advice on NHS website.Practical guide to destroy all these myths about treatments' eficacy. Also, helps to stop being worried about small imperfections in our children's health.

Very good book especially if you have a firstborn and sometimes are lost when something happenes to your most precious baby, not knowing should you panic yet or its something very small and minor. Great book to refer to when in doubt and have some unanswered questions. You can find loads of information on the most common childhood illness and tells you when it's OK to wait it out and when you should seek medical help. It's very empowering as I don't feel like a headless chicken in some situations running to e&a on first occasion.Highly recommend it to any new parents.

Brilliant! Read it!
Brilliant! Tongue in cheek but very down to earth and soberingly true. Haven’t finished reading yet but it’s the first book I ever have been compelled to write a review on, so decided Not to wait until the end, if helps others to decide whether to buy the book or not. Buy it!

A must have for every parent
A must have for every parent, and don't wait until the baby's born. You'll be pressurised from an indoctrinated medical profession from the pre-natal stage, and boy, when that little bundle of joy is born they'll be cueing up to inject him or her with enough toxins to destroy the child's immune system for life.Very practical and trustworthy, Dr Mendelsohn covers every eventuality and give wise guidance for every ill.

A Common Sense Approach
Although I felt a lot of this information was on a generic level, it simply reminds us of our responsiblility as a parent on what we should be doing when our childern become sick rather than pass on the responsiblitiy to someone else who doesn't know your child better than you do. An interesting read and a good reminder of simple practices we only need to follow and that not to panic due to our own inexperience, how else are we going to learn if not through observation, care and patience for our children. I would recommend this to everyone, even adults might benefit from carrying out some of the suggestions.I like the sections on confronting your doctors, for who are they, humans like the rest of us, so don't be fooled by the white coats and commanding looks, they might have hidden agendas behind those smile, and I agree on that point. A good reminder of the realities in life.
