Incredible lens for the price
This lens should not be used for video as the autofocus system sucks. That being said, you wont find a better lens for the price. Bokeh is beautiful. Images are a bit soft when wide open but still one of the nicest looking lenses I have. If you want a cheap 50mm prime get this lens. Its so cheap that you could buy 3 for the equivalent lens from canon!

Great lens for the money (but a little noisy)
I'm using a Canon EOS 750D and wanted this lens to compliment the standard kit lens for some (amateur) portraiture photography.Good Points- Great value at £40!- Doesn't feel too cheap or flimsy, the plastic body seems sturdy enough- Picture quality is greatBad Points- There is no STM motor, so autofocus is a little noisy / clunky. Still works perfectly, but I wouldn't use this lens for video- It doesn't have the same quality feel when fitting the lens (to be expected, for the money)Seems like a no brainer for the money, especially if you're just learning or having a bit of fun.

Nice, useful lens, but slightly inaccurate autofocus
The lens came in a very small package and in pristine condition as expected. I do not own the original Canon lens this Yongnuo was based on, so I have no valid comparison except for some older manual lenses. When used on manual focus, the lens works just fine -- the picture and colors are sharp enough even at 1.8. Autofocus, however, is a whole different story: it's noisy and slightly inaccurate, often missing perfect focus enough for it to be noticeable at larger print sizes or cropping levels. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the lens or just my model, but since a lot of people are complaining about problems with it, I guess they did cut some corners. However, despite the problems mentioned above, this is still a very good lens for the price, so I still recommend getting it if you don't have an alternative at this range.

Great for stills, bad for filming.
Nice cheap prime lens for photography BUT useless for AF filming; it doesn't keep up with latest STM kit. If you want to film with it you have to use manual focus as AF is very noisy. Very. Stick with the excellent Canon STM lens which you can barely hear over audio (I'm using a shotgun mic to further dampen noise - but even with that the Yongnuo lens is unusably loud on the 80D).

The Best Buy for your new camera
This is without doubt the Best Buy for taking photography to the next level from your kit lens, it really does let you be creative in the way you set your shots and it will definitely make you a better photographer if you take your time and work through all the various techniques and setting. I thoroughly recommend this lens not just because of price but because it makes you realise there’s more to photography than just point and shoot.

Quality fantastic
Fantastic 50 mm I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the pictures and would say it was worth every penny. Considering it’s not top of the range lens the quality is worth every penny. I wish I could find one in as soon even a long lens at those prices specially with the quality you get. By it a must.

One disappointing design failure, filters do not fit on it
I'm very happy with this lens, it has great value for money, but has one (in my view, inexcusable) design flaw.I wanted to fit a Hoya Polarising filter to this lens, however the thread at the front of the lens for fitting this filter to is recessed too far into the lens, so the thread of the filter can't meet the thread of the lens. This could have been so easily avoided by having the thread on the lens continue to the front of the lens, but instead it's unnecessarily recessed inwards.Disappointing.
