Amazing
I am a huge fan of Ubiquiti's Unifi line of networking products and have the Unifi Security Gateway, the Cloud Key Controller, and 4x Access Points (2xLite and 2X Pro), so having read various reviews and posts on the UBNT forums, I thought "Hmmmm I need this", so ordered it. The box was plain cardboard, not the glossy cardboard (apple style) that other Unifi Products have been and when I opened it I discovered the POE Injector has a "Cloverleaf" plug lead and a.... EUROPEAN 2 Prong plug, NOT a UK plug! (Inexcusable!)Anyway, I had a spare lead so replaced one of the my UAP Pros with this and looked into my Cloud Key Controller and "adopted" the device (Unifi Users are nodding their heads right now!), then got a "STUN failure" message, so I upgraded the firmware and it went away (Phew!), BUT I am a beta tester and tried to do a Custom install of the Beta as I have on my other devices.... Nope. its not having that! All other devices are on v3.9.14.7960 but this seems intent on remaining with 3.7.35.6029 ??So I decided to test it, and discovered although technically it should blow the AC Lite and AC Pro Away, it simply doesn't.So far I have to admit I am underwhelmed.... :(I wil update this review over the next few moths or so.*****UPDATE 22/12/17 *****Ok so I thought it only fair to update my review, it turns out with later firmware this Access Point becomes a beast, literally blowing the 2x Lites and 2xPro that I have out the water, the 3x CPUs give it some real horsepower and it never breaks into a sweat. Some people will try to tell you that the "HD" in the titles means it has less throughput than the Pros etc, simply not true, testing with a 2016 12" MacBook gives connection speeds of 1300Mbps and transfer speeds in the region of 650-800Mbps this is with 7 devices connected to it.I am tempted to replace the three UAPS on the ground floor with one of these as the range is also superb. For the fun of it (and because I can), I tried Link Aggregation from a Unifi Switch to the HD and it worked!Downsides? Its quite a bit bigger than the Pro and immensely bigger than the Lites, so can dominate a ceiling. If you are fed up with your current Wifi setup, or feel you need more speed, I would definitely recommend Unifi and definitely recommend this Access Point.Update 26/1/18If anything with each Unifi Firmware update this gets better and better, for now i am trying to resist replacing at least one of the other UAPs with one of these, but thats only due to the cost involved. The whole Unifi System continues to impress me and give trouble free, fast and secure networking (I am up to 10 Unifi devices now!), if I was just starting to invest in the Unifi ecosystem, this would be the Wifi Access point I will pick, as it is more powerful and more future proof than the others.

IT’S SO GOOD I’M SWITCHING TO UBIQUITI!
I live in big house which is quite old, it has thick concrete walls some even 1 metre thick. So it’s no surprise that in some parts of my house there is no Wi-fi or if there is it’s extremely slow and continues to drop in and out, I have tried multiple extenders (not cheap ones either) and none really have worked.I know it’s not my router as I have an ASUS RC-AC3200 one of the best out there and my Internet speeds are reasonably good 20mbps down and about 1.5mbps up. So after years of bad Wi-fi I finally decided to sort it out I had seen multiple YouTube videos with people using these even the big channels such as LinusTechTips, TechFlow, Marques Brownlee, etc.So I read up about this and did many hours of research and decided to get one, I got the HD over the Pro because of the faster speeds- 800mbps on the 2.4ghz band compared to 450mbps on the Pro and 1733mbps on the 5ghz band compared to 1300mbps on the Pro, I cared about the faster speeds because at the end of the year I’m getting a Gigabit connection (1000mbps) from Gigaclear. So I installed it which was relatively easy because of the YouTube videos I had watched on how to set it up and the other bits of research I had done, I used Cat7 cabling to just to future proof my home. As soon as it was up and running the difference in Wi-fi speed around my house was instantaneous I’ll incude photos of a Speedtest I did in my kitchen before the install barely getting 1mbps now I’m getting over 18mbps!Huge difference all around the house, but I have some areas at the end of my house that I still don’t get signal. It’s not the HD’s fault it’s way to far for it to send the signal from where it’s placed so I’m just going to buy another one to make it reach. Overall I’m extremely happy about buying this wish I found out about Ubiquiti years ago as I would have saved lots of time and money. Just waiting for my second unit to arrive now!Including a photo of the Access Point, also getting the Ubiquiti Security Gateway and 150w 8 port POE Switch by them too, I’ve already got the cloud key which I think is a must makes the setup so much easier and you can monitor your network from anywhere. In total I’ll have 3 Ubiquiti UAC-AC-HD’s, so impressed by getting one access point I’m fully switching my network to Ubiquiti at a cost of nearly £1,500, that’s how impressed I am by this! If you’re thinking about buying one just do it, solved all my problems I’ve been having for years. No more bad wi-fi!!!
