careful with the glass insert
very fun and educational. The first one I ordered came with broken glass insert. Took the loss and ordered another one. Glass is packaged a little to loosely and is very fragile. Otherwise very satisfied.

Yes, it levitates forever, even without spinning.
The media could not be loaded. There are only three parts and no instructions, but it is easy enough to put together following the images here. There is a glass plate (I am pretty sure it is glass, not plastic as listed). It should be glass to provide a hard, durable, and frictionless surface for the metal tip of the rotor. This glass has one flat edge with rounded corners and an opposing domed side. After some trial and error, it seems the flat side goes horizontally into the groove of the base. The slot is slightly wider than the glass and it is important for the glass to (very slightly) tilt away to provide proper positioning of the rotor. In that position, the rotor spins for minutes and remains "levitating" when no longer spinning. It will magically hang in the air forever! Tilting the glass plate towards the base will make the rotor jump out of the contraption. There is obviously a delicate balance between the magnetic forces and the tip that touches the glass. The positioning needs to be just right.A solid levitating object with just a tiny contact point at one end is an interesting physics problem, especially since it does not use any power source. One might be tempted to "do the math" and discus the required arrangement and orientation of the hidden permanent magnets. Pretty cool!

Terrible !
This is fake and does not even fake levitation. Mine came with a broken piece. Absolutely no directions …although I doubt we should have needed any …

Spindle is Poorly Balanced
The media could not be loaded. I'm a sucker for magnetic levitation toys. Magnetism has always seemed like magic to me. So when this popped up as Vine item, I jumped at it.Assembly is simple, so simple that the vendor doesn't bother to include instructions. The only trick is getting the glass (maybe hard plastic) piece in the groove at the end of the base correctly.Unfortunately, the spindle is very poorly balanced (see included video). It will spin for quite a while but it eventually slows down and starts wobbling instead of spinning. It will rock back and forth for a few minutes, finally coming to rest with the black side down.I consider this an unacceptable manufacturing error. For a counterpoint, I showed this to my wife and she declared the poor thing's death wobble "cute". This is the kind of thing you need to find out about before getting married.

An old science favorite
As a kid I was always into these scientific toys that showed off marvels of the mind. For example Newtons Cradle and anti gravity tables that looks like it defies logic but can be explained with science. This is no exception. This is another great scientific illusion and every time I see it I just have to give it a turn. While I was a little confused setting up but once I figured I needed to properly seat the glass into the groove instead of just dropping it in it works great. However keep in mind you can not damage the needle because it is measured properly to float at the exact distance if you chip it then the illusion is over.

Unbalanced
The rotor is unbalanced and this is speed limited introducing a wobbling that will eject the rotor if spun too fast.Still useful for demonstrating physics.

It's cute and works. Make sure you put plastic shield into base point up rather than down
The toy works fine and reminds me of one I had as a kid. Only 2 points to make, because this uses static magnets rather than electromagnets:1. When putting in the plastic shield at the end which keeps the spindle from shooting of the tray, put it in point up to provide a place for the spindle to push against. At first glance you might think to put the curvy part into the curved base, but it's actually designed for the point to be up.2. Because the point of the spindle pushes against the plastic you can actually pick up the base and move it around to a certain extent as long as you keep the base at an angle less than 90 degrees with the plastic and base on the bottom.

Magnets Spin This Right Run!,
The media could not be loaded. This magnetic levitation toy is a fun little distraction. Perfectly sized for your desk, this little magnetic levitation toy is the perfectly fun distraction from the rigors of your boring daily life.It did take me a couple of tries. But after getting the top perfectly levitated over the base, I just gave it a gentle twist and set it spinning. The trick is to not twist too hard. After you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy to spin it.It's definitely a fun little distraction.
