STANLEY033932 Powerlock Tape 5m Top Reader

This is a great item. Heads above other tapes. Especially if you are a carpenter of tiler etc. Accurate gadget with many uses. Looks cool too.

With both sides marked in mm - no imperial - this is an uncomplicated tape that is made even better by the window on top. Simply measure, lock and read the measurement off, no messing around adding (or is subtracting) 50mm (or is it 60mm or 2 inches or some other amount). I use these on a daily basis for my job, it's a more accurate and simple way to gain an exact size than my laser which I carry but no longer use

Tape works.... OK.The spring is very weak and the actual tape is a lot bigger than I expected. But still does the job.

Love this but no inches just metric

I first encountered this tape over twenty years ago when I started working in the window blinds industry. Over the years I have had several replacements (the tape is in use up to seven days a week). I find it great for measuring recesses and have got to a point where I can't work comfortably with a "normal" tape.The fact that it is "metric only" removes much of the chance of mis-reading.Contrary to the description in the blow-up picture, the case is NOT chrome plated metal. It is ABS plastic. As a result the yellow slider for locking the tape in position will eventually fail as repeated operation weakens the two plastic lugs inside the case which guide and secure the slider. Other than that, I can recommend it. Wouldn't dream of using another.

PROS: I buy these purely because of the ease of reading when taking internal measurements. 100% accurate and unlike other internal tapes I've tried the case is square so you don't get inconsistent measurements between two vertical surfaces.CONS: The price keeps going up, the case is still brittle plastic and they don't survive a drop onto hard surfaces particularly in the cold. The recoil stops working quickly as does the mechanism to hold a measurement. This is typically about the same time the hook end comes off and it disappears into the tape making it unusable. Tape kinks easily over longer unsupported measurements.All of which said, I keep buying them because whilst they're working they're unbeatable for accurate internal measurements.If this review was useful, I'd be really grateful if you clicked 'Helpful'. Despite not being especially cheap, this Stanley tape measure is made out of cheap plastic, with a chrome finish. It's a piece of junk in comparison to the one I have from the olden days when Stanley was a good brand.

I bought to measure the inside dimensions of our new windows in order to get accurate measurement for blinds, this does the job very easily and more accurately than a normal measure.Very easy to read. Only gripe is the numbers are only written one way up.
