Long time Lego fan, first time adding lights and different brick company
So I stumbled upon this set while looking at lighting kits for Lego sets and was delighted and then shocked by the low price. I thought it surely could not be as nice as the photos for that price. Took a chance and ordered it anyway. The box it came in is a very nice flap slot box that can be securely closed again, and the organization was a sort of half step between the Lego sets I got as a kid in the 90s and current (2022) style Lego packaging. The pieces are all in little sealed baggies with numbers to match each step, but in a more broad sense compared to the breakdown Lego currently uses. Rather than having 1 bag for step one, this set is broken into 3 main parts (train bottom, train top, and tender) so each part has multiple bags. Part one for example has all bags with (1) on them and each bag is generally sorted by part size. Biggest bricks in bag 1A and smallest in bag 1E. Separate bags for the lighting are also clearly numbered and used to sort components rather than match the current section of bags. The instruction manual is a nice bound paperback book, and I will say the colors on the printing job are a tad dark so definitely build in a well let room or download the digital instruction booklet where it’s much brighter. There is a business card to their website in the set where you can find it easily and for free.As for assembly, I would definitely say the detail in this set makes it more of an adult challenge so 17+ or so with experience recommended. The brick pieces are all solid and high quality injection mold style bricks just like Lego though perhaps a touch more flexible? It’s very minor, but the snap on some is slightly different and not as sharp. The only time I have had issues with bricks not staying connected though is where they have a wire running under the brick, and that’s just par for the course with adding something like lighting where the brick can no longer sit fully flush together. The lighting it’s self is also just beautifully done. Pictures just do not do it justice. I love how it looks and hiding the light box in the tender car is so clever! Wire placement in general is done really well as except for a few spots, they just blend into the model or are completely hidden. Now, I did have 3 pieces I was missing as I built the set but that just happens sometimes with brick kits and just like Lego, all you have to do is email them at their support email (there was an example email on their site for how to do it) and they will mail you your missing parts for free. From when I sent my email to when I got the missing parts was probably 5-7 business days total. Excellent customer service with prompt responses as well.Honestly just a great kit all around. I really enjoyed the challenge of building it and honestly can’t believe the quality for the price. I’m definitely considering getting the matching train station, and I might even load the bricks in this set into a brick set designing app to see if I can design a passenger car and a caboose to match!Excellent set. Highly recommend for an experienced brick builder looking for a fun challenge or even one looking to try lighted kits for the first time. 9/10 for the minor but easy to solve issues but definitely a 5/5 product.

Nice but much more expensive now
As advertised. Looks great. I paid $48.99 end of March. Bit pricier now.

Great Brand, excellent quality, fun to build(from a LEGO snob!)
I will write this review in 2 parts; the first part on the overall brand and the second part on the set itself.Part 1-BrandThe overall quality of the bricks is amazing, it is pretty much on par with Lego.Price point is great! You get a building set with a lighting kit for a fraction of the cost of Lego!Another thing I love about this brand is there are no stickers to fiddle around with, all the bricks are printed! The lighting kit was easy to install. If you’re on the fence on purchasing, I recommend getting a set that costs less than $30 so you can see foryourself.Part 2-The SetThis is where I had to deduct a star, and this is where my LEGO snob comes out! The instructions were very clear and easy to follow, albeit with a few misprints(they were minor, one step illustrated the wrong piece, and there were a few other steps that showed a completed area before it was complete). The set itself is cool and looks great when built, but I found some of the techniques used were finicky and fiddly. Also, this is more of a display set, as engine wheels don’t have a gimbal for the wheels to pivot on a curved track. There were also some features that were difficult keeping attached to the main piece and felt fragile while building around them in the immediate area(the silver pipes in the center of the engine!) Overall, it was a fun build, looks great and will be a nice addition to your steampunk city!

Almost as good as Lego if not better
Been searching for alternative options for Lego sets given how insanely overpriced they are. Buying this set cemented that fact for me. If you were to buy a similar set by Lego, it'd easily be double the price. I don't even know where to start. I'll just make a simple list. What I liked:- Price. This set is a crazy value. You don't need to purchase anything else to get the experience advertised. The only thing I needed separately was three AAA batteries but almost no one includes batteries these days. Actually, you don't need to buy the batteries if you have a USB powered port somewhere because it includes a USB cable that can be used to power the LED lights. Also has that piece used to pull apart bricks but better quality than Lego's. And my favorite part: comes with a little plier that you can use to apply the stickers. This thing's value is crazy. You can't help but question how can Lego charge us double for less.- Packaging. Comes in a smaller box but that's a good thing because less chance of the bags to be move around and possibly ripping. Happened couple times with official Lego sets. Everything was nicely and tightly packed in the box.- Quality. This is the most important part right? Well worry not. This thing is as good as Lego. If you gifted this to someone who is an official Lego fan, they wouldn't notice. Every brick fit nicely. The finished build looks just as good as the picture shown. I did not experience any faulty pieces. No complaints here at all. What I disliked:- Instructions. Possibly being a nit picky here or being a 'skill-issue' but some of the dark brown pieces looked way too dark that I couldn't tell which piece it was exactly and had to go back and fix a couple times. I was using PDF version on my tablet which is how I prefer to do even with the Lego sets, but yeah they could adjust the darkness maybe? Also this was the first build with LED lighting set up so I was a bit concerned but the instructions made it clear... almost. There were a few times when I had to zoom in and look closely. It just took me longer but if I can do it, anyone else can. Just pay attention. Conclusion: I highly recommend to every Lego fan if you're looking for a insanely valued alternative Lego set that comes with LED set up. I'll definitely be ordering more from them. Already got the station one ready to be built.
