Fowler 52-224-104 Inch Outside Digit Micrometer Set, 0-4" Measuring Range, 0.0001" Graduation, Set of 4

These mics are great they are definitely worth every penny, I wish they made bigger ones for the diesels I do but for the gas engine they are absolutely perfect. I have only used them a hand full of times but I am definitely a fan of the digit mics.

The description does not list the country of origin and Fowler being a US company might lead you to think it is made in the US. It is not, China. That being said even Starrett is making some of their tools in China. I bought a used 0-1" Fowler digital off the internet they used to be made in Japan. I like a digital readout. We used Mitutoyo analog digital's at a carbide plant I work at. The carbide dust ate them up would last a year or so, but a tech with little training could use the mic for QC. This new Fowler feels every bit as good as the new Mitutoyo. The mic did not come with a cert, I do need one, but it did check 4.0000" on the included standard.

I have the 0-3" set so I bought this one to go with it. These are good mics if you are on a budget but they are no Mitutoyo or Starret. I have had my set for several years with good luck. I expect the same with this mic.

Works well. Digits aren't 100% perfect but it gets close enough that I don't have to keep adding numbers--saves time on big projects. This is obviously not a $1,000 micrometer, so for what it is it works as described and 5 stars relative to price.No problems with repeatability and haven't had to readjust (zero out) the thimble.

I decided to get a full set of 0" to 6" digit micrometers but didn't want to buy no name imports and didn't want to spend a $1000 for Starretts or Mitutoyos. I figured with Fowler, i could at least get parts or repairs. Since they don't offer a full set of 0" to 6" i decided to get the 0" to 3" set and buy the 4", 5" and 6" individually. They all seem to work as advertised and are a good value for what they are asking, but even though they are listed that they come with a grey baked-enamel hammertone frame, the 3" to 4" is in a blue hammertone. I tried returning them to get a grey hammertone frame to match my others, but the replacement i received is the same. Its annoying to have one odd ball in my set, but I guess its not a big deal as they work fine. Just thought someone else may find this information useful.

Product works great. Price is reasonable and less than I expected to pay.

Its my 3rd 1.....hope it will last...
