Totes Black Automatic Auto Open and Close Large Rain Protection Umbrella

my area doesn't have much rain but this umbrella is very wonderful specially auto open and auto close and and high quality material and small size when it closed i recommended this one

This umbrella was very solid and sturdy upon initial inspection. I commute into Manhattan from NJ and was also pleased with the small size. The first time I used it, it worked great until I got to my office and tried to collapse the umbrella. The thing was locked open. What a complete embarrassment. After struggling with the thing for several minutes in the rain, I had to break the thing to get into my building. It got one star from me simple because there is not a zero star option. Also, amazon should provide for a full refund as opposed to me being required to ship it back, given the circumstances.

Easy open, close and wrap for storing. Found to be somewhat smaller than I expected but does a decent job in moderate downspouts. Quality and appearance is great for price.

If you're tired of those expensive auto-open, auto-close umbrellas that last 3 or 4 times or until the first really windy day occurs, then this is what you should be buying instead. So this umbrella doesn't fully auto-close by itself. It costs a fraction of those fancy fully automatic umbrellas, easily fits into a briefcase or coat pocket, plus it holds up quite well over time. So for the price of one of those fully automatic umbrellas, that don't hold up very long or don't even work when they first arrive, you can get two or three of these instead. An excellent balance between quality and cost.

If you have other choic please do not choose TOTES. It only can be used for three times and without heavy rain. I bring it with me travel to China and it brokened one bone. I found the local agency if they can repaire it and they told I should take it back to USA and return it to where I bought it. Who will do this bring a broken unbrella with another three month trip. But it is no bargain. So I give one star for it. Poor quality and poor service just with a joke label "Life time warranty"

I have to preface this review saying that I have only used this umbrella a handful of times. That being said it has worked as promised each time the sky has opened up. After being caught in the rain after work one day I decided I needed a backup for days when I forget my rain jacket at home. This umbrella is very compact and tucks away in the bottom of my backpack for use when I need it without taking up unnecessary room.Update 08/14/12: After not even 2 months of use a hole has opened up at the top of the umbrella where everything seams together. This is very disappointing as now it is useless to me since water can go right through the hole.

Good quality umbrella, but smaller than I expected. Fits in my computer bag, which nice, but thought it would provide greater coverage.

I had what was probably the oldest Tote umbrella still in use in the civilized world with one that has served me for perhaps as long as twenty years until one of its arms failed. Discarding it was like saying goodbye to an old friend. However, the new Tote which replaced it is superb in many ways, including a button release and spring loaded shaft to make opening the umbrella fast and easy. The same button is depressed to close it. This is an excellent product at a reasonable price.
