Yes, you can pullout the paint area and then have the flat area to mix your paints. Actually you would have a flat area from the lid and the bottom of the pallet.

Q: How does this compare to the Mijello palette of the same size, 33 wells? I want the one that has the deepest wells

These two products are very similar - probably identical.

Q: Do the sections of paint also stay sealed ( in their own little cubbies) when the lid closes? Or do they mix all up if the case gets tilted

The individual wells are not leakproof. If you use paints that have honey in them and you tilt the palette they will run ruin your palette. If you use any other watercolor paint, just leave the palette pen for a few days so the paint dries and you won’t have the same problem.

Q: Can someone please confirm if there are two raised lines along the bottom of the mixing well tray. I want to get it for pan storage without the raise.

My palette is smooth on the bottom when you remove the paint well tray. I put in several empty 1/2 pans and full pans right to the corners to see if the removable paint tray could rest upside down on them and still close tightly. Answer-yes it can!
