this is the one
Researched a number of systems and bought the iopool about 1 months ago. Some use cartridges to measure free chlorine, CYA, Ph etc and require replacements every 1-3 months.iopool measures "Oxidation Reduction Potential" which is a fairly complex chemical phenomenon affected by numerous factors but bottom line for our chlorine pool if ORP is too low (helpfully sending an alert on my phone) I know that it either needs acid to bring the Ph down (which also triggers an alert), refill the chlorine tablets, adjust my filter pump schedule and/or clean the filters.I'm currently experimenting with different filter pump speeds and running durations to correlate impact on ORP and minimize my electric bill and also the day/night ORP variation due to sunlight reducing the effectiveness of chlorine. For data nerds this thing is amazing.Pour a small amount of acid in the pool (not even near the floating sensor) and see the ph drop in the next measurement (taken automatically every 15 mins). No subscription fee, no more squinting at test strips trying to decide "is that purple, lighter purple, or much lighter purple??", no more worries if we go on 2+ week vacation that we'll come home to green water (if we get an alert while away can ask a neighbor to add acid, chlorine or shock).Based on youtube videos I expect 2+ years of use before needing to replace the combined measuring probe and battery for ~$110. I can live with that, just to avoid ever having to do drip/shake testing again.Well done iopool!

UPDATED REVIEW FROM 3 STARS TO 1 STAR!
UPDATED REVIEW AFTER 4+ MONTHS OF USE...I was initially somewhat satisfied with my purchase but it turns out it is very inaccurate! With the iopool readings it has made me over chlorinate my swim spa! It was so bad that the 2 months in the plastic of my filters were so bleached from dark blue to chalk blue. This device basically made me chlorinate everyday even on days when I don't use my spa. It also made me put PH+ almost every other day!!!!I decided to purchase Frog Ease and when it arrived I drained my spa and started over. Using the Frog Ease the iopool told me that the water had very low disinfection potential. So I did strip tests everyday and every time the test was perfect but the iopool reading said it was dangerously low.Now it's too late to return this garbage so now all it's good for is the temperature reading... that's really the only thing I trust from this device. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. Just get a Frog Ease and do test strips.BELOW WAS MY PREVIEWS REIVEW ABOUT A MONTH AFTER PURCHASE...I used to have Phin but it was discontinued so I had to find an alternative which lead me to iopool. I saw the reviews and decided it would be a good choice. It is easy to setup but I have a few issues.1. It was supposed to come with test strips and it didn’t. To do the initial analysis it needed a test with a 6-way tester, I only had a 4-way. So I used the 4-way and just winged the entry for the test in the app so I can continue setup. Then I purchased a 6-way and did the test again.2. Every now and then when I open the app I get a message that the device is not in the water and cannot make a reading. I dismiss the message and it shows a current reading. I’m guessing there are times when it loses connection to the gateway or something. Not a big issue, but still annoying.3. The app doesn’t have an option to input other chemical products other than iopool. I use Spaguard. So I have to just use my judgement on quantity to use, I’m sure the amounts would be close if not identical. But because it won’t let me input my chemicals into the app when it recommends treatment it says I don’t have it in stock and that what I put in may not be accurate. So I put my chemicals in and confirm treatment. Then I wait an hour or so to check the app if anything else is needed.Overall it makes monitoring my spa a lot easier but it could be so much better. I’m so disappointed that Phin was discontinued because that one was really good, the only problem I had with it was the annual subscription. Iopool has a lot of improvements to do in app to get a 5-star rating from me.--

Amazing Customer Service.
I want to give a special shout out to Romain. We had some trouble with getting the shipping address right and I will admit, it was a bit frustrating. But, Romain in the customer service department, took care of everything and made sure to keep me updated and he went above and beyond to get me the product that we ordered. We’ve had our echo in our hot tub for two days now and I’ve learned quite a lot. I am really hopeful that this is the start of a beautiful relationship with my water maintenance. I have had a terrible time with it in the past. We are so hopeful that we will probably order one for our swim spa as well. My water looks great but echo recommended adding some calcium to harden my water because it was too soft. Likely because I put too much softener in when we filled the hot tub. But I would’ve never known that. So I am grateful for that. I am going to use the balancers and chemicals that we have now and once we run out, I will probably switch over to the brand they have at the store. The prices seem reasonable and I really love being able to take a photo of the test trip and have it analyzed for me. Sometimes trying to figure out the colors are easier said than done. So I love that I can just take a photo and let it do it for me. Once again, thank you Romain for your help!

Data… but not what you’re expecting
I bought this product as I wanted to keep an eye on the pool chemicals after an unfortunate bout with algae. The product itself is very nice, feels like it’s made with quality, and that it’ll likely last a good while. The app on the other hand is kinda frustrating. It’s constantly pushing for you to buy their products, although you do not have to. The 3 data pools (pardon the pun) aren’t as straight forward as you would imagine either. It seems to work off of an average, and it’s not as simple as showing you what your chlorine level is but rather your “disinfection potential”. Also, you have to make sure you keep an eye on the calibration levels as it reads higher levels of PH than what Leslie’s shows it to be. Overall, if you’re looking for something to help you keep an eye on your pool then this is your item. If you’re looking to replace your weekly trips to the pool supply store, I don’t think I would be ready to go all in on this device and forego the trips. YMMV.
