Nearly a Year In
I purchased two pairs of these earbuds, one for me in August 2024 and another for my spouse in September 2024. I had to use the warranty on the second pair, and that wasn't a pain in the butt. While I did have to follow up to get my tracking number - I had zero issues with miscommunication, and my expectations were set properly. They arrived on time and the replacements are going strong. My OG pair never had any issues. The company focused mostly on the audio. The app allows you to fine-tune your listening but not necessary. The audio quality is solid, and the fit is great. These are comfortable. They have touch buttons for rewind, transparency mode, start/stop, and a few other features I don't recall. The touch buttons, for me, are a bit tough to use. I mostly use start/stop and transparency mode. I LOVE the easy transparency mode. The mic quality is fine and clear. These earbuds are easy to clean and maintain. The charge lasts easily 8+ hours on the buds and the case has 4 sets of charges. I can sleep in these things for about 9 hours and still have around 20% of the battery life left on the buds. Not the most comfortable if you side sleep tho.On the defective pair: The issues we ran into were sound cutting out and the microphone either sounding far away or like there was interference. We did some basic troubleshooting and cleaning, let them know that didn't work, and they sent us a replacement under warranty with no fuss. Big recommend!

Amazing sound at an amazing price
These sub-$40 ear buds outperform every other product in this price range and compete with big brand units that cost 3-4x as much. They are *that* good. The TOZO NC-9 ear buds are packaged in a very nice display box, along with a clamshell charging case, six pairs of silicon ear tips of various sizes, a short USB-A to USB-C charging cable, and a tiny instruction guide printed in the tiniest font imaginable. The charging case magnetically secures the ear buds and lid. Four LEDs across the front of the case display the level of charge for the case. The battery is a little undersized and will recharge the ear buds 1-2 times before it needs to be recharged itself. The ear buds should give you around eight hours of listening at half volume, or around six hours at higher levels. An LED on each ear bud glows red while it is charging and will go out once the ear bud reaches full charge. The outer surface of each ear bud contains a touch-sensitive pad that you tap to perform actions. You can tap, double-tap, or tap-hold each pad to invoke a separate function. The default settings for each ear are:left: tap = change mode (ANC/Transparent/None)left: double-tap = previous trackleft: tap-hold = volume downright: tap = pauseright: double-tap = next trackright: tap-hold = volume upYou can customize these settings via the TOZO app. The pads are very sensitive to touch and it's easy to accidentally trigger the "tap" function just by brushing it with your hand.Sound quality is very good, with clear highs and solid bass response. The midrange is unexceptional but it isn't muddy or attenuated. You can adjust EQ to suit your preference through the TOZO app, and most audio streaming apps provide some EQ function to cut or boost different frequencies. Each ear bud also has a microphone, which is used by active noise cancellation and for passing thru sounds when in Transparent more (more about that below). And of course, the microphones can be used to speak on phone calls and virtual meetings, but let me just say that the calling experience with these is not good. The feedback loop for your voice--to hear what you're saying--is not good, and it's like trying to have a conversation in the room with a muzzle over your mouth: you can hear them perfectly well, but your voice seems muddled and faraway to you. These ear buds have active noise cancellation. This provides modest noise reduction, but does not work nearly as well as the ANC circuitry in more expensive models. The ear buds also have a Transparent mode, which does the exact opposite of ANC: it uses the microphone in each ear bud to amplify ambient sounds around you so that you can hear while you are wearing them. This mode works like a hearing aid, in concept, but don't buy these for that purpose. The circuitry uses a noise gate, which "turns on" the amplifier only when sounds are above a certain loudness. For example, you won't hear a kitten's purr in Transparent mode, but you will hear a dog's bark or other sounds that are above 50-55dB. Tapping the touch pad on the ear buds while in Transparent mode is very noisy, because the microphones are beside the touch pad and taps are picked up and amplified.I'm very pleased with these and recommend to all but the most demanding audio enthusiasts.FOR APPLE DEVICES: If you use these on an Apple iOS device (iPhone, iPad) you may find that you can't increase the volume coming out of the ear buds, no matter how high you raise the volume setting on the device. If this is the case, open the Settings app on the device, go to Sounds & Haptics > Headphone Safety and either turn off "Adjust Loud Sounds" OR increase the slider beneath it to the maximum volume that you can listen to comfortably.

Better than Apple - see updated review
While on a trip across country my Skull Candy ear buds took a dump. I had to have a new pair of buds before my long flight back home. After having Apple Air Pods and Skull Candy buds I just did not want to throw another $100 bucks down the drain. After much research I decided on the TOZO based of reviews of fit, sound quality, and customer service. I was still a bit skeptical for the price of under $40 but figured what do I have to lose. The day they came in I charged and paired them and OMG!!! They were so much more comfortable than my Apple Air Pods as I have have the gen prior to the silicone mainly because I refuse to invest that much money for a listening device. I also want to compare to my Skull Candy buds, while those are comfortable they took a dump while I was traveling. TOZO's noise cancelling feature is something I didn't get from Apple or Skull Candy. This is a huge selling point for me and once I was able to test it out I knew I scored some really good ear buds for a fantastic price. Now, I have had them for 6 months exactly (bought in Feb, took a dump in Aug) and the right bud took a dump over night, again while I was travelling. Unfortunately the right bud stopped working all the sudden and I didn't notice until I got on my flight, bummer for me because I was only able to use the left bud from Virginia to California which resulted in no noise cancelling option on an airplane. I remembered the app I had downloaded and when I got home I went thru the app to see if I could resolve my issue. I charged them, reset them, and nothing worked. I also noticed the case all the sudden wasn't holding a charge. Not only was it not holding a charge, I would fully charge it, not use them (well the left one, lol) and the case battery would drain and die. I contacted customer service thru the app recalling a key selling point for me was reading how responsive they are. They responded in less than 24 hours with suggested fixes to try. I followed all the suggested steps but was unable to reset that right bud still. I let customer service know and they responded with a request for some information on purchase date etc and offered to send me a replacement pair at no cost. While I waited for them to arrive I had to use my husbands Apple Air Pods and I have to say not only do they hurt my ears to the point I have to cut my time short using them, the sound quality just isn't as good as the TOZO. So, I highly recommend you try out the TOZO NC9's if you are looking for amazing sound quality (yes, better than Apple) and noise cancelling feature, it's the best! I'd also like to mention you can tap for the spacial (I think that is what it's called) if you need to be able to hear some background. Personally I prefer the noise cancelling feature. Shout out to their pretty amazing customer service reps as well!UPDATE: I am here to update my previous review. I have had my replacement buds a few weeks now. I stand by my 5 starts for comfort and sound quality, and in my original pair NC9 Hybrid, however the replacement pair I was sent are NC9 "upgraded". My biggest complaints with the replacement pair is that they are not compatible with the app and the battery life is not acceptable. I will say the issue of battery life is only with the right bud. I have tracked daily how long it lasts before indicating its low and needs to be charged and I am not even able to get thru a workout which is not ideal when you typically wear them for hours at a time when you do wear them. I guess I am back to the drawing board because I refuse to carry two sets of buds because I know my faves are gonna die in 30 minutes.
