Cost and ease of ordering.
I needed a switch to operate the led lighting I installed in the trunk of my 69 chevelle. This switch works awesome. Can’t wait to hit the car show circuit to show this upgrade off.

Good switch.
Simple to install. Switches on a light when I raise the hood on my truck.

Mount at a 45 degree angle!
I used this switch on my RV antenna mast. This switch works perfectly, but it must be mounted at a 45degree angle to fully close. I initially had it mounted horizontally and it was still open, I tilted it down 45 and voila!

It's a mercury switch. Use it correctly and it works great.
I needed a switch for my'03 Audi A4 cargo lights. The original was in the liftgate latch assembly. The latch assembly is not intended to come apart, so the conventional repair is to replace the entire latch. The latch is discontinued by Audi parts department, and the aftermarket latches are mostly from Europe, where prices are high and shipping is slow and often expensive. $100 to $200 bottom line with shipping. Up to a month estimated shipping time in some cases. So I found this mercury switch for $11 on Amazon and bought it. Shipping was typically Amazon, installation on the inside of the rear lid was fast and easy, the light works mint. And generally mercury switch contacts do not wear out. The only thing you need to be mindful of is to find a surface that tilts one end of the switch downward to turn it on, and the other end of the switch downward for it to turn off. I believe that there is an actual little blob of mercury inside this thing that simply runs back and forth, literally bridging the contacts inside the casing for "on", and when the mercury runs to the other end of the casing, it turns "off". It really works well on my Audi, and I think it less prone to failure than the original part.

Tilt needs to be more than 60 %
Switch needs to tilt down more than 60% before the switch reliably disconnects. So I had to fabricate a wedge. It would be great I'd the manufacturer could provide wedge(s).Everything else is great.
