Q: Does this work for a small turtle

Far too small for any kind of turtle at all. If its an aquatic turtle, it needs at least one gallon of dechlorinated water per inch of carapace length (shell measured from head to tail). Also also turtles absolutely need UBV light (and calcium because without either of the 2, they get MBD & shell rot) so this housing would be inappropriate, because even if it were several times bigger & big enough to hold the right amount of water and a basking area, UVB rays cannot go through this kind of lid properly.

Q: Ca I use a heat mat for this cage?

Yes you can. I have kept reptiles since 1985. Heat mats are excellent as long as you use a thermostat. Never had an issue with them. If you are going to be using a bunch of these enclosures, you may want to look into heat tape or cable/rope.

After doing the math, it's approximately 5.3 gallons for this faunarium.

The media could not be loaded. El producto me sirvió de sobre manera para aumentar el espacio de mi Gecko, a diferencia de otros comentarios donde viene rota, únicamente vino con un rayon muy mínimo el cual no presentaba problema alguno, sinceramente recomiendo el producto al 100%, ya que viene bien embalado, lo que si, es que hay que tener cuidado con la tapa ya que se siente frágil pero si la usas con cuidado no hay problema

This tank is a good size, it’s not too deep so perfect for a tarantula, the openings are secure and easy to open.
