Plays fine, good sound.
Plays fine, if you enjoy this type of older music.

This brings back memories of my parents dancing together.
I love listening to this music - it has such a great sound and beat. I wasn't around when it was popular (I was born in 1957) but my parents danced together into their late 70's. They were very good dancers and I loved watching them together at weddings or family get-togethers. My dad taught me a lot of the dances so that when my mom couldn't dance after foot surgery, my father would give me a whirl on the floor. At my best friends wedding, my dad and I were dancing and everyone stepped back to watch us and applauded when we were done - that is my favorite memory about this music. I taught my sons to dance to this as well. It has such a great sound it is almost timeless. This music will last long after some of todays' hits are gone. The sound quality is excellent, you wouldn't know the originals are at least 80 years old! I recommend this to anyone who likes good music with a good rhythm.Linneaann

GI Jive
The collection has only one song from 1939, Marlene Dietrich. The rest are from the early forties. I wish this were a two or three disc set.

WWII Songs
Decent songs but none of the most popular back then.

Terrific example of the big band genre
I love all of it! But especially the Marlena Dietrich version of "You Go To My Head". Probably the best cover of that song I have ever heard. The Frank Sinatra track is interesting, because it was cut before he developed his signature style. Here he sounds like someone trying to sound like Sinatra. But I liked all the tracks, and I think this would make an especially good gift for those who grew up in the era. I also appreciated the fact that the CD came in a plastic case, not cardboard, which seems to happen more often these days.

Lack of Value for Content
The music choice for the CD was poor for the cost. The value was substantially less than the cost for the CD. CD content did not meet advertised material.
