Works Fine
Installed on an old ceiling fan after the original zing ear switch failed. Color-coded wires did not match the old switch, but as long as wires were spliced together in same order, worked as advertised. Fairly easy installation, though splicing and joining small wires from a hanging fan requires a little patience.

Easy--if you match wires
Simple replacement for 3-speed ceiling fan switch.1 Access wiring and switch2 Make sure you get the right replacement, e.g., 4-wire in this case.3. Photograph old switch befor removing4. Note tiny numbers on old switch and which color wite from the capacitor (black cube) is attached to each number.5. The wires on the new switch won't be the same colors as the old BUT6. Simply match and connect the new wires to the old, referencing the tiny numbers on the two switches.

Fixed my broken switch
This fan switch replacement was a good match for my broken switch (pictured). I'm glad I took this picture of my broken switch first, since the wire colors did not match the replacement exactly, but the numbered labels on both switch backs helped me match the correct connections. You'll need wire nuts and electrical tape to secure the connections. My original installation used the little silver ball-chain pull, so I wish this replacement had included more of the ball-chain pull instead of, or in addition to, the string pull (which I did not use). It was a little difficult to get my old extension pull attached to the short length of ball-chain pull provided, but I got it done, and everything works as before. (I DID learn a lesson leading up to this project-- you don't YANK on fan pull chains! Pull firmly but slowly until you feel or hear the switch click!)

Pig Tails Baby!,
Well worth the little money spent. If you've ever tried to install the fan switches sold in big box stores, the ones without pig tails, the ones that you have to stab the wires into the terminals and hope that they lock in place, then you'll know why these are the best thing since sliced bread. Buy these. You'll save yourself time and much aggravation.

Somewhat easy install.
After reading various reviews people noted the wires were different colors. They advised to both use the relative position on the switch, or use the numbering on the old and new switches (1,2,3,L). In my case the numbering was not consistent with the relative position, so I went with numbering. The "L" in the wires I assume stood for "Line" a black wire in both cases, but in different relative positions. It worked first try. The one other pointer I would give is not to do too much dis-assembly. In my case I simply unscrewed the round cover above the light fixture (3 screws) and could then access this switch, without any dis-assembly to the light except removal of glass lamp cover.
