Thanks for your question. The Polaris 8050 Sport does not include a scheduling feature. You may want to consider the Polaris 9450 Sport, which includes a 7-day programmable timer, or one of the Polaris app-controlled robotic cleaners, which allow you to set a custom schedule from your mobile device. You can compare cleaner features on the Polaris Pool website. Do not use a timer with an automatic pool cleaner. Enjoy your swim time!

Q: Does it remove fine algae?

I guess that depends on what you mean by "fine". I previously had a robot with a cloth bag that would turn green with algae and I would have to clean about every couple hours or it couldn't pass water through it. Needless to say, that got old. This one has a mesh basket instead of the bag. Really small particles will pass through it but that's what my pool filter is for. This mesh is small enough to pick up sand partials and anything else laying on the bottom. I assume some of that "pool dust" may pass through but hopefully it is suspended in the water long enough to pass through the filter.
