A Lightyear/Space lovers dream!
My 2, almost 3 year old, loves Lightyear and all things space. He didn’t yet have a rocket as big as this in his collection. I love how the 5” figures are interchangeable from other Lightyear toys.I purchased for about $25- and it is absolutely worth that price. All the Mattel Lightyear toys are very well made (even the small ships we have bought in the past). Buzz has several movable joints and, luckily, all of the Mattel Buzz figures are durable- holding up to my rough toddler’s play extremely well. The wings included go on any of the 5” figures, and all the 5” figures can fit in this ship!!!I’d love if they came out with an XL-01 of the same ship. This is a great toy for your space/Lightyear lover!

Awesome toy!
My 4 year old LOVES this! He asked for a Buzz ship for Christmas. The Buzz figure is a nice size and the ship is huge! The mechanisms are easy enough for him to use. He needed a little help learning to get the figure in and out of the ship and keeps popping the door off, but a couple weeks in it's holding up. It does need a bit a space for storage, so that's something to keep in mind. Overall, very happy with this purchase!

Broke after 1 month
My son absolutely loved it. All the 5" Buzz lightyear fit. Only problem it broke after leas than 1 month.. the top capsule wouldn't close anymore. So disappointed. I was able to return it but there was no replacement option & now it's double the price.

It's big and beautiful, but better for collectors and adults who want to display than for young kids
I loved the movie, and wanted a great replica of the XL-15, and this is it. Mattel really knocked it out of the park for this movie. Even the little ones are great, and my son loves to play with it. I bought the big boy for myself, though, and will display it proudly. That said, it's not the best toy for little kids -- it's so big it's not really practical for flying around the house making pew-pew laser sounds. I think this is more for the connoisseur who collects high end figures and vehicles, and when you think about it like that, the asking price is pretty reasonable if you ask me.

Great product Well made
I seen the comments here about how the cockpit won’t close at the bottom back of the XL-15 there’s a handle to push and pull to “eject” buzz. Out the the box it comes not “compressed” to hold the cockpit closed. You have to pull it and then press it all the way back in. And BOOM the toy works like it should - it’s also step D on the instructions

An excellent starter piece for customizers
I'm probably not your typical buyer of this toy (or maybe I am based on collectors forums). I didn't buy this for the actual toy and play features as delivered. And to be perfectly honest the feature where the cockpit flies open and buzz pops out and spreads his wings is fun maybe once. Twice if your child is easily amused. But setting it up is a pain in the ass, and it doesn't stay locked in place well. Or at all.Which is just as well. My purpose for buying this is it makes a nice cheap and easily modifiable vehicle for either 3 3/4 or 6" scale action figures. Once you rip out the spring launching buzz cr@p. With some relatively minor modelling skills you can turn it into a fantastic GI Joe aircraft. or a Star Wars Starfighter. It makes a nice stand in for Luke Skywalkers Legends era E-Wing. You do have to limit 6: pilots to reasonably slim and without chunky space suits. If you are really comfortable modelling it turns into a fantastic 3 3/4" GI Joe 2 seater. And looks spectacular sitting on the deck of your USS Flag next to a Sky Striker. As an actual Buzz Lightyear toy? It's kind of as pointless as the stupid movie. As a hobby project for other IP's and toy lines it's fantastic for the price. If you know how to use a rattle can, masking tape and do a little bit of plastic modification you can turn this into an amazing piece. I would suggest you just give the Buzz Lightyear figure to a kid to play with. But that seems a cruel thing to do to a child.
