Efficient, but very slow to cool UPDATED
I was expecting better performance from this Dreo Window Air Conditioner after reading so many positive reviews and watching the videos. Installation was super easy. It's very quiet most of the time. When the compressor kicks in at its highest, there are some annoying rattling sounds that come from the unit like the fan or compressor is not quite balanced or properly mounted. Other than that, it's very quiet. It's also very quiet because it doesn't push as much air as other prior units I've owned even when the fan is set to high.I will say it is very efficient and hasn't hurt my electric bill even during high temps. I'm going to assume because is always running the compressor at the lowest setting possible to provide cooling output. I couldn't figure out how to get it out of ECO mode which is probably causing it to do this. I pulled out the manual and turned off ECO to see if this would engage the compressor function a bit more and improve the cooling effect. If it makes a notable difference to performance, I'll come back and provide an update. Otherwise, I'll leave this comment as-is.I really like the moving louver on the unit which makes using it in my bedroom really nice. I don't like a constant cold air push on my while sleeping and the moving louver makes it feel more like a cool breeze hitting me every few seconds.I tend to only use a remote for my a/c's when I'm adjusting the temperature at night from my bed. This remote has no backlighting and the user really needs to see it to use it which means turning on a light to change the temperature.I'll finish out the season with this unit and then buy a new replacement next year.UPDATE:I was able to connect with customer service about my concerns and they shipped me a replacement unit at no cost and it arrived within a week of our discussion. The new unit has been in for a day and when running on the coldest setting, there are no rattles. Airflow feels similar with no real way to measure the difference other than it feels a bit colder but without the rattling noises.I really respect when a company is willing to stand behind their product and minimize the hassle to a consumer in making things right. My customer service agent made the whole experience great giving me reason to move my prior rating of 3 to a 5.

(Listing fixed) Bigger than advertised and "pre-assembled" doesn't mention that panels are welded on
Update 5/27/22 - the company reached out and apologized for the confusion and has fixed the listing to reflect the accurate dimensions. Updating to 5 stars as my primary concern was addressed and shouldn’t be an issue for anyone else going forward!I bought this unit based on the pictures in the listing - I thought I was getting a rectangular unit measuring 13.97" high by 22.9" wide and 13.81" deep, which is what is still advertised in the listing today (see attached picture pulled straight from the listing. I needed a shallow depth unit because of the cage that's pre-installed in the window it was destined for, so I specifically sought out units that would be shallow enough and this one was advertised as being such (and the only inverter unit that fit), so I was excited to use the space in an efficient way. To my great disappointment, the actual unit arrived and was almost double the depth, coming in at 22-23" deep, making it unsuitable for the space I had.Putting aside my unique issue (most don't have a max depth for a window AC install), the second issue is the bracket and panel wings that fold out to cover the window gap are not just "pre-assembled" as the description suggests - that to me would indicate that they've assembled it for you, but that there's a possibility of disassembly given that the first picture in the listing shows it with absolutely no hardware attached. That is very much not the case - the arms are welded on and painted, so there is no way short of taking an angle grinder to this thing that you'd ever be able to use anything other than the pre-supplied panels (which are always garbage and I toss, replacing with plexiglass panels cut to size or a higher grade insulation and wood paneling). That may prove to be a dealbreaker for folks that wish to do a better looking custom install with this unit. Now to the good - while I was never able to use mine because of the unfixable issues above, this unit is rated the most efficient window AC on the market in 2022, so that's great. The upward pointing louver is also a nice design that will hopefully catch on with more units, because diffusing the cold air rather than blasting straight at you makes for a more pleasant and gently moderated room temperature.
