Great camera, once you get it configured.
I like these cameras. Of course, I have been an Amcrest customer for many years, and own a variety of their cameras to go with my Amcrest NVR.This ASH47-W is my third. I have one on the shed I call Prairie Dog and one on the back porch I call Bird Dog. Prairie Dog is quick to catch any motion and follow it around, lighting up the back yard, whether it's a person, animal, or even raindrops. Bird Dog works about the same, but since it's under a cover, it's a little more relaxed and less excitable. My latest one I call Hound Dog, and it replaced one of my other cameras on the front porch. I wanted to be able to track people coming in for deliveries or visitors. My only major criticism for these cameras is on the setup. You HAVE to use their Amcrest Smart Home app for a smart phone (either IOS or Android), and I am not a big fan of that. All their other cameras can be accessed via the NVR, Amcrest Surveillance Pro for PC, or even directly through the IP for initial setup and configuration.Even after you set it up with the phone, you can't directly access through the IP. You need to adjust settings through the phone, NVR, or ASP program, but that's no biggie.I had to wait several days for Amcrest to fix their Smart Home app on IOS before I could even get Hound Dog set up and in place, but their customer service was understanding and let me know the device wasn't defective and to please be patient. They let me know as soon as the app was updated so I could configure the newest camera. Now Hound Dog joins the other two smart cameras and 13 other various Amcrest cameras set up around the house and property.Note that the ASH47-W is not POE so you will need a power source nearby, and while the WiFi is nice for putting it up in a remote location, I have found it tends to drop frames when trying to retrieve recordings of incidents and activities from the NVR. I have all of mine wired for much better reliability. You can always insert a MicroSD chip and retrieve videos directly from the camera.

Great camera company
I have three three different cameras from Amcreast and I've been happy with all of them. This camera works very well. It has a lot of nice features like alarm lights motion detection.

these cameras are pure garbage not compatible with any known system
I bought 2 of these and regret the decision immensely.! I have used Amcrest cameras for many years going back all the way to model IPM 721's I have a number of IPM 841's, IPM 941's and IPM 1190's none of those cameras have given me nearly as much grief that this Ash47 has. Starting with the blatantly false advertising of zoom feature which is not a feature of the camera at all.! Amcrest gets away with this because their logic is flawed and they think that the digital zoom on your smart phone somehow counts as a zoom feature of the camera itself. total BS these cameras do not have any zoom at all That is the opener. Now configuring these cameras is a pain in the butt . They frequently lose the connections. they cannot be remotely configured and require you to physically scan the cameras QR with your cell phone or they will not work. They freeze up constantly sometimes for 20 30 40 seconds at a time which is unacceptable. they do not work with any web-based software and even if you use them with the NVR from Amcrest you lose out on functionality. Amcrest seems to only want to get your user information and streaming back to their Chinese masters I suppose. I finally did manage to get them to work using Amcrest own surveillance Pro software but in a severely crippled mode. None of the advanced functions are available and pan tilt does not function properly at all. The camera wants to slew all the way to one side or the other and then will not respond to commands to go back to home position. customer support is a joke. They hire people whose only technical expertise is that they know how to read a script. The moment you get them to go off script and demonstrate that you actually know what you are talking about they get lost like deer in headlights and have no idea what they are doing or how their own equipment works. I would not buy these ever again and recommend no one purchase these. A compatible outdoor camera and much more reliable with very similar features but also with no zoom is the IP5M 1190 W at least with that camera you get access to the web interface and it works with their surveillance Pro software

Be careful when installing optional sdcard!
Be very careful when/if you optionally install a micro-sd card into the camera. The sdcard slot has a space above it that will happily accept your card - and drop it into the housing of the camera where it is gone forever! I found this out the hard way :( Make sure you are actually in the sdcard slot - it should have a springy resistance and require you to push it in for it to click in place.
