Atmel-ICE Full Kit

Pros:Loaded with features and works without a hitch.Cons:Wish the included cables were longer ... at least 10 or 12 inch would be nice. Current included cables are 6 inch on a good day.

I would advise against buying this product from this vendor. It is advertised as the Full Kit, but is actually the Basic Kit. The carton has a Full Kit label on the top, and a Basic Kit label on the side! This appears to be deliberately misleading. I returned mine; I will buy from Digi-Key which sells the Full Kit for a slightly higher price than what is advertised here, but is honest about what they are selling you. Reading through some of the reviews, I see at least one other person had the same experience.

So far so good. Unlike other folks, I actually got the full kit. Not just the basic. Best price around.

I am upgrading from a Atmel Dragon so I already had Studio installed and the Atmel Dragon drivers. I had to uninstall the Studio version that I had and install Studio 6.2 or higher. Studio 6.2 recognizes the Dragon, but won't recognize the Atmel-ICE. Documentation isn't very helpful. Best I have been able to determine from Google is that I probably still have a USB driver installed that needs to be removed and then reinstall Studio.I also don't care for the kludgy adapter for the different cables. If I get it working I will look for a 50mil to 100mil adapter cable. If I hadn't waited too long to try it I would just return it and buy a JTAGICE mkII clone.

you'll get the basic kit missing the adapter board and mini squid cable that the full kit comes with.

This works without any issue. There wasn't a driver issue and the flash for the Atmel boards used was easy.
