Will this work with a regular manual pool vacuum?

I've not tried it, but I doubt it would work very well. The canister is supposed to sit level in the water, and I think the motion of using a manual pool vac would interfere with its functioning.

Wouldn’t it be easier to empty the standard skimmer basket as you wouldn’t have to keep turning the pump off like you would with this?

My pool cleaner hose attaches to the suction port inside the skimmer, so the skimmer basket isn’t there when the cleaner is running. This keeps the debris from making it to the basket at the pump, which would clog it up and reduce the flow through the filter.

How is this better than the trap basket attached to your pool pump? Also, my zodiac robot gets clogged when it sucks up leaves, can this help?

Debris that gets picked up by zodiac gets trapped in this keeping your pump filter basket and filter clearer of leaves, bark chips and pine needles. Zodiac still occasionally chokes on large leaf loads or bark chips. Have to clean filter basket a lot less.

Is this product new? we have a zodiac mx3 cleaner, will this leaf catcher work with our equipment?

Yes…I have the mx3…originally had the MX6, but after 8 years, the plastic body and hoses were ready to go to that pool cleaner paradise in the sky…😋 Do NOT listen to the below average IQ re-re people here…this skimmer basket is a LIFESAVER!!! It saves you from having to constantly remove the lid from the pump and filter assembly, which is a lifesaver for me…just make sure to have the MX6 hose adapters (didn’t look to see if they were included in this offering)…also, when setting it up, install it at the end of the first hose attached to the suction hole in the wall (basically: wall - first pool cleaner hose - this skimmer basket - hose to pool cleaner)…also, as part of the initial setup, once it’s in the pool and attached to the hoses, if the basket is not oriented upright, simply twist the hose in the wall to get the basket to rotate to the upright position… Hope this helps whomever decides to read it!😇
