Q: Is it tested on animals????

Ivory brand does test on animals. That said I looked it up and the bar soap was Introduced, 1879; 141 years ago and is unchanged since then. That long ago I doubt it was tested on anything or anyone and I cannot imagine they are doing any testing now (yup, still cleans?!?) on this product.

The quick & easy answer, no soap can't be made w/o lye. To make soap it requires at least a strong alkaline base/lye + a fatty acid/vegtable oil or animal fats. What takes place when mixing these ingredients is called the saponification process, a chemical reaction between an acid and a base to form a salt/soap.I have used Ivory soap for more than 50 yrs. Yes, Ivory Soap is suitable for shaving. I use it whenever I shave instead of the more expensive shaving creams or lotions. I recommend using a good shaving brush. Also, use it while in the shower---it will not dry out your skin.

Not sure either but I wish it was where you could have it sent every 3 months or 6 months or whatever you wanted. U
