Exactly what I was looking for!
A very simple and straight forward book on how to protect yourself and family from numerous types of cyber attacks and identity theft. The author covers protection for your phones and computers, providing step by step instructions for each operating system. He also gives concrete advice on how to protect your credit, finances, online accounts, identity and more. I've been feeling anxious about some of these areas for awhile, knowing the risks but not enough about how to mitigate them. I have a plan now and the tools to begin shoring up areas of vulnerability. Very grateful I found this book!

Tons of useful topics are covered.
From touching on basics like passwords, scams, social engineering the author also goes over other useful topics like firewall bypasses, home network, backups, and ransomware protections. All of these are incredible useful and brought together very succinctly in this book.

So much good advice!!
I searched the web for quite a while before I found this book. If you want to go crazy sorting through government and corporate surveillance hacks and buying useless products, then that is the way to go.On the other hand, if you want to learn real threats, like how thieves can break into your lawyer's email and then get you to redirect your house down payment, then this is the book for you. Other things like how criminals watch your social media for clues to your password or security questions, who your family is, and when you are away from home so they can rob you. These are real things that happen every day. So many of these scams can't be stopped with technology. You have to know what to look for and be aware. Even if you ignored every technical control this book recommends, just by knowing what can happen will make you better off than most people. The book also makes the point that security isn't just about you. If your email is broken into, the bad guys can use it to send emails to your family and scam them out of money or put them in danger. Think about that.In poker, there is a saying. If you sit down and can't identify the sucker, then you are the sucker! Use this book to learn what is going on and don't gamble with your finances.

Rock solid advice
Like the author, I am in cybersecurity and a father. And also like the author it occurred to me one day I must secure my personal and family life online. You'd think it would be simple to take what I know at work and just do that at home. Unfortunately, it isn't so easy. At work we talk about compliance frameworks, least privilege, risk analysis and all this other stuff that doesn't help at home at all. SafeCyberHome cuts through all that and, without jargon, tells you what to do and why. Believe me when I say there are a lot of bad actors out there, so get this book and protect yourself.

Great Find!
I feel fortunate that I found this book. There are a lot of free or cheap books on preventing identity theft or online fraud and I checked out a few of them. They are either very technical or full of horror stories without clear instructions on what to do. This book explains how fraud, identity theft, social engineering and malware works and then how to stop each attack. I'm an engineer by trade (but not in software) so I can pick up on technical concepts quickly, but I didn't need to. This book is easy to read (sometimes even funny) and revealed things I would have never thought to think about.

good quick read, learned a few new things about staying safe online.
This book is a must-read for anybody online...in other words everybody! There are so many things I hadn't thought about in everyday life. SafeCyberHome makes things like this clear. I never thought twice about reusing passwords or somebody going through my trash. It never occured to me that my kid's credit could be attacked or people could see my information in free wi-fi. It also helps to simply know what scams are out there so I can recognize them. Before this book, everything I found on the internet was meant to scare the heck out of me. Glad I found this resource.
