Do not buy this radio! If you do, don't EVER update the firmware!Like many other Internet radios, you easily add your desired stations via the web. You can then access them by a menu option called “My MediaU”. However, if you update the firmware/software, you will lose that menu option. How a defect this important could have been allowed to be released, shows me that Airable (the web software developer) and Sangean (the hardware manufacturer) don’t care a bit about quality. I contacted Airable, and while they responded quickly, they were not able to help, blaming Sangean with the following: “The last minute we figured out a way to allow access to the radio portal for MediaU devices. Sangean thought that the folder would no longer work, and created an update to remove the folder. Hopefully they can reverse it.” I contacted Sangean, and it took them four days to respond with a “we’re passing it along” e-mail. I do not expect them to fix this, since it’s been a while since it was released. If they actually cared, it would already be fixed.It’s a shame, because this unit has a nice set of features. I especially like being able to connect to Tidal directly, without having to use my phone to cast it.

I had a Logitech Squeezebox in my kitchen that I used to listen to when making dinner and washing dishes. For some reason Logitech stopped operating their servers or something which made the Squeezebox unable to connect to the internet which made it useless. Even the clock was unable to keep time. I bought this Sangean product to replace the Squeezebox and so far, I am pleased with it. It can pick up thousands of internet radio stations as well as music services like Spotify, which is what I am using. It also has an analog clock face when turned off, which alternates to local weather showing hi and low temps and humidity. My only complaint is that the treble seems to be a bit lacking. It sounds pretty similar to the old Squeezebox but I would prefer a bit more high frequencies. To be fair though, I do have some high frequency hearing loss so this might be just me. My home theater speakers (Definitive Technology) sound great including high frequencies, as they go up to 20kHz.
