It's NOT typical Schleich German engineering
I bought this to use with a table top RPG. PROS: It's cheap in price (compared to "real" RPG miniatures), it's the right size for a 28mm RPG giant scorpion miniature, it has a good attacking pose, and it's pre-painted. CONS: It's cheap in quality and the plastic seems to be a different formulation and less durable than the plastic used for other Schleich animals, the paint job is pretty poor (it's not the same on the sides) and the overall finish is oddly very, very glossy, and finally you will need to get creative to mount it on a 2" miniature base because the leg spread is just a tad bigger in diameter than 2". Schleich is advertising this figure as usable for RPGs but they failed to make it easily fit on a 2" base; giant scorpions are not 3" (huge) base monsters. Schleich's tarantula (#14829) from a couple years ago was MUCH better (aside maybe for its boring pose) in every way for RPG use - higher quality, better paint job, etc., so I'm rather disappointed with this scorpion. It's a shame but I don't expect to buy another one of these. It's close but all the little "misses" add up and a miss is as good as a mile.

Beautiful sculpt
The only complaint I have is that it is so tiny. I should have paid more attention to the specifications in the item description. My 7yo son loves it anyway and that is all that matters.
