Works Perfectly with Nintendo Switch – ASIX AX88772 is the Way to Go!
Chipset: ASIX AX88772Bandwidth Limit: 10/100 -- Fast EthernetUSB Interface: USB 2.0USB 2.0 Bandwidth Overview:Theoretical Limit: 480 Mbps (60 MB/s)Real-World Throughput: ~75–95 Mbps (9–12 MB/s)I’ve attached a photo of a real-world speed test using this adapter, and the results align perfectly with expectations. Everything checks out—performance is solid and consistent. Using such an adapter really does help with online play as the connection stability increases dramatically. If you are the type of person who likes to host Mario Party 64 N64 NSO emulator sessions or the like, or just hosting games for your friends in general, a device like this is a must have while you host to improve the connection for everyone playing. After some extensive testing with a variety of adapters, I’ve realized the Nintendo Switch isn’t capable of Gigabit Ethernet. 100 Mbps, Fast Ethernet, is the maximum you’ll get, and honestly, it’s more than sufficient for everything.Pro Tip:If this particular adapter is too pricey or out of stock, make sure any alternative uses an ASIX AX chipset. Avoid Realtek-based adapters, or any other brand of chipset honestly, as they’re often incompatible with the Switch or run in a reduced "safe mode" with poor performance. In many cases, they won’t work at all.Bottom Line:If you're looking for a device that does what this does, at a cheaper price, that works with a Nintendo Switch, stick to ASIX AX chipsets in the USB dongles you buy. They’re plug-and-play, reliable, and fully supported by the Switch's OS. No headaches.

Highly Recommended if you want Stable Connection
Since the Switch doc does not have a port for Ethernet, it does feel like you are required to purchase this, but after a while with it, I HIGHLY reccommend that you get one for yourself if you play online consistenly. Trust me, just buy one of these adapters, get a good ethernet cable, and you will have consistent connection with Nintendo Switch Online.I am highly aware that this doesn't always solve the problem since Switch servers for some games like Splatoon are Peer to Peer (P2P, meaning that the connection depends on a set person's connection, typically the one with the 'best' connection) but it does help out in the long run.

Wired Connections matter with online gaming
I had issues with disconnecting in games like Mario Kart and Splatoon. I went and purchased this LAN adapter and all my issues were solved. Game updates are faster and connections are way more stable. Worth the price for the functionality.

They have it in stock!
Before purchasing this item I drove around to 4 different electronic and department stores trying to find it in stock. No one had it! I went home and looked it up on Amazon and was able to get it delivered early the next day for the same exact price as the stores but Amazon actually had it IN STOCK! I purchased an ethernet cable with the same order and was up and gaming right away.Definitely sped up my online game play instead of relying on WiFi which could make my game jumpy.

Online Gaming with Switch
We keep getting knocked off of Splat on the Switch. This made our internet better for gaming. Easy to setup and ready to use.

Licensed and Wired is almost always better
I've got fast internet and strong wifi but wifi is still wifi--it is slightly slower and subject to interference, and thus dropouts.Given that the Switch has a locked OS there are limited tools we have to prove the worth of an adapter like this. Here is what I can say:- Download speeds are considerably faster over a Cat 6 cable to an Apple Airport Extreme to Verizon FiOS- Upload speeds are the same- I haven't found a way to test ping times so I don't know how much those have improved (if they have improved at all)- I haven't been disconnected from any Splatoon 2 matches since installing a month ago. Typically over wifi I'd get dropped mid-match about once or twice a month- I have still been 'unable to connect' when initiating matches, though as I understand it this has more to do with others' poor connections than mine- This has not made my reflexes any faster :-(So on balance, this works, won't transform your life in any magical way but is The Right Thing to do as a courtesy to yourself and other players if you spend a lot of time gaming online.
