Q: Can it be configured to use the paper roll on the chalkboard side?

Yes you can make the paper go on either side but if you use the chalkboard side you won’t have the tabs on the bottom to hold the paper down like you do on the dry erase side

Q: can 9 year old use it ? he is 4.2 feet tall

My daughter is 9 and loves it! She pulls a chair up to it and doodles away!

Q: chalk board - chalk does not wipe off the chalkboard. is anyone having this issue? any hints on getting the chalk to erase off chalkboard?

We use a wet paper towel and the chalk comes right off.
