iSimple ISBT23 MusicstreAM Bluetooth Audio Receiver

This iSimple ISBT23 works great in my 2002 Porsche Boxster to add bluetooth for streaming music through a 20-year old stock radio. The iSimple ISBT23 set up I used would work on a Porsche 911 with a Becker CDR-220 from this same era. For newer Porsches with the fiber optic MOST connections for the radio, this iSimple ISBT23 will not work if you do not have an Aux port but you can use the iSimple Tranzit Blu bluetooth adapter that connects through the FM radio antenna (I use the Tranzit Blu on my 2006 Porsche 911 since the 2006 model uses MOST connections and I am happy with that set up).For the 2002 Boxster, I want to keep the stock radio rather than switching to a double DIN newer radio since thieves can get into a convertible easily and the double DIN radio could be a target for theft and subsequent damage to the dash when the radio gets ripped out. Thieves are not interested in stealing the old stock radio. This iSimple device will work with any vehicle that has an Aux connection, but since the 2002 Porsche Boxster stock radio is a Becker CDR-220 without an Aux port, I had to add an Aux adapter in one of the open plug spots on the back of the Becker radio. There are many Aux adapters for the Becker CDR-220 and the one I used is the HQRP adapter shown in the attached photos since it was easy to find on Amazon. For my installation, having the HQRP Aux adapter plug into the back of the Beck radio was convenient since I could connect the iSimple ISBT23 to the Aux adapter together along with connecting the power for the iSimple ISBT23 since everything is behind my radio. If the Aux port was mounted in the dash of the car as these Aux ports are in many cars, then I would have needed to figure out how to connect the in-dash Aux port to the iSimple device being installed behind the radio which would have been a bit more effort.One thing I really like about the iSimple ISBT23 bluetooth adapter is it automatically connects to my Apple iPhone 8-plus when I turn on the car, and I can just fire up a music app and start playing music. I tried another bluetooth adapter that did not automatically connect to my phone and every time I got in my car I had to go into settings, select bluetooth, select the other bluetooth adapter, back out of settings and then go to my music app to play music. The iSimple ISBT23 that automatically connects to my iPhone is much more user-friendly and makes using bluetooth much easier than my experience with the other bluetooth adapter.Installation was very easy, I had this iSimple device connected by splicing into the Becker radio wires as shown in the attached photos in about 15 minutes. This iSimple ISBT23 is only for streaming music, so if you want a bluetooth adapter with a microphone for phone calls, then this is not the Bluetooth Device for you. I am very happy with this iSimple ISBT23 bluetooth adapter.

Works exactly as specified. My phone recognizes the MusicStream Bluetooth input device automatically after the first pairing. Get in the car and go. Simple installation and operation. Worth the few extra dollars. Hardily built housing and cabling are of higher quality than cheaper alternatives. A must for late-model owners wanting some of that shiny, new technology!

Volume lower than radio so added rca audio preamp to boost

I was a little skeptical at first, but once I hooked it up on a Harley Davidson road king I was surprised by the sound quality. I've never used one in a vehicle but they sound great on a motorcycle. I also like that it has a 4 volt output from the RCA's so when you turn it up, you don't lose any of the bass response. It also has about a 20 foot signal so you really don't need to be right up on it. I've only used a few of them so far, but they'll be my go to item when installing an amp on a bike with no head unit (radio)

It works, but..... I lost 100% of the Bass. So maybe for voice calls its real good, but for my music taste i had to disconnect it.

It worked great for about a week. I hardwired it into my wife's van and it was nice to finally be able to listen to music off our phones over the stereo. It stopped right before our vacation so it sucked not being able to listen to music over the car stereo during our week and a half long road trip. By the time we got back I had a lot of catching up to do and didn't have time to dismantle her car to get the piece out. When I finally did get it out the return window had closed and I was stuck with it.Synopsis: buy something else.
