Satisfied enough for 5 stars...
Really, not a bad cpu. Surprised to see the critical reviews. However, I hate the varying "howl" the CPU fan has in the last two generations. This one was the worst. Very annoying in a quiet room, changes frequently with any load/heat, so I got the amazing Cooler Master GeminII S524 Version 2 CPU Air Cooler with 5 Direct Contact Heat Pipes (RR-G5V2-20PK-R1). Works so well that for most typical tasks in a 70degF room, the fan doesn't need to be connected (it's silent at low speeds). So yeah, in hindsight, I can see getting the unlocked version might have been the better choice, but this is a build for the aging parents currently running a core2duo from the Vista era. Peak speed and overclocking doesn't matter, cool and quiet does, and this is a much better value over the i7's for their web browsing, emailing, and occasional photoshop elements needs.

Four Stars
Works as great as you would expect. No problems what so ever and it's really fast.

Almost 10 years later
Bought in 2017 for my first pc, now it's 2025 and I'm still using this baby. Runs great almost 10 years later and I'm sure i'll get another couple years out of it. Worth the money then, VERY worth the money now.

Worthwhile purchase
My husband was very excited and surprised when I bought this for his PC. He says his load times are practically non existent now and he gets much less angry at his computer while he’s gaming. Lol

Product was used and defective on arrival
I knew there was a problem when the factory seal on the package had been covered up with scotch tape. Upon inspection of the actual CPU, it was clearly used with thermal paste residue and fingerprint smudges on it. I plugged into my motherboard anyway and it failed to boot. What a waste.

Best processor I’ve had!
I had always wanted this processor, and even though it’s “locked” at 3.5ghz, it still speeds up to about 4.0ghz randomly which is amazing! Have it paired with a Windforce 780, and they both game like a charm! Would definitely recommend!!! **YES IT COMES WITH A STOCK COOLER!

most motherboards come with a one click overclocking to make it easier for people who don't know how to do it and you'll get you
For real, just pay the tiny difference for the unlocked 7600, most motherboards come with a one click overclocking to make it easier for people who don't know how to do it and you'll get yourself a nice boost in speeds. If you don't need a processor right this min then I would suggest waiting for the newer cannon lakes to come out later this year. They will be a much faster much smaller form factor.

Only minor complaints.
The fan it comes packaged with has wires that are too short causing fan blades to rub against them. Thankfully the wires are not glued in, so you can pop them out of the holding clips and move them to where this won't happen. I could have avoided this if I were able to turn the fan a quarter turn, but I wasn't sure if the thermal adhesive would stand up to that or end up distributed unevenly. Haven't had any issues with the functionality of the product.
