My work issued HP docking station had a short 3ft cable that wouldn’t let me put my laptop where I wanted on my desk.I removed the bottom cover of the dock, and plugged this cable in place of the stock cable, plugged it in and everything worked as before.And now my laptop is in the right place on the desk.

After a lot of frustration, I found my issues to be coming from this cable. I have a dock in a conference room with a tv, camera, and power connected to it. I have a Laptop with thunderbolt/usb4 ports. When ever I used this cable with a power brick plugged into the hub, my laptop would shut my usb ports off until I plugged it back into the factory power adapter. If I use a different cable from the hub, I do not have the same issues. Everything functions as it should. If I unplug the power brick from the hub so it is powered off the laptop, it would mostly work. I specifically wanted to have my laptop charge though for extended conference calls. The cable claims to carry power. We also plugged a phone into the cable with a power brick on the other end and the phone would initially show that it was super charging. Then it would switch to fast charging after a couple seconds. The phone screen would also randomly light up because something funny was happening with the charging. The cable claims to carry 100W, but it clearly can not. A 65w charger overwhelms it and I suspect it is suffering from too much voltage drop.

This was my second attempt to buy a 15-foot Thunderbolt USB-C cable that worked. My use case requires video out from my laptop, touchscreen feedback TO the laptop, and (ideally) enough power to drive the portable touchscreen monitor. The first cable I bought sent video but did not return screen taps. This one works bi-directionally, as required. (It also passes enough power to drive the monitor, but only from one of my laptops. The other computer apparently doesn't send quite enough juice, requiring supplemental power to the screen's other USB-C port)

I've had a real hard time finding a longer than 10 foot long Thunderbolt cable that can do 20Gbps. I know 40Gbps cables longer than 6 feet are out of the question, except for very expensive optical cables. I connect my PCto my server via Thunderbolt 3/4 networking, as it's a much more affordable solution than traditional 10G networking, and there's plenty of available hardware. I have been making due for a while with a 10 foot cable and this is the first 15 foot Thunderbolt cable that just works! No intermittent speeds, no drop in performance, it just works. It's the most expensive one I tried for sure, which is why I wanted to try cheaper solutions, but you get what you pay for. My computer shows the link speed as 20/20Gbps, and I can confirm full 10Gbps bridge networking as per the maximum Thunderbolt networking specifications. I ran several speed tests and got over 9Gbps talking to my NVME SSD raid. I hooked my laptop up to the cable and got the same results as well. The cable connecting PC to server has plenty of slack now and I'm very satisfied. For construction, the cable is thick and the connections are very well built. I couldn't be happier after a year of trying different solutions.
