Not for the faint hearted , these Sichuan Peppercorns really do have the unique spice, tang and bite sensation expected from this type of peppercorns. A very unique aroma and flavour with that wonderful lingering 'smarting' sensation in the mouth. Great value pack .

Great taste and tongue numbing
First time I have purchased these to make a salt and chilli mix, I use 1tsp of salt, 1 of 5 spice, 1 of this product and half a red chilli - tastes great! You do have to de stem them which takes a while so you don’t end up eating spikes, but it’s worth it. I always grind them up just to be sure. Nice atomistic smell with good numbing sensation goes great with lots of dishes.

I love them. Easy to prep and tasty
I just roast them a bit, I don’t have mortar and pestle so I put a sieve over an empty bowl or pot and I use a wooden dough roller to crush them. It works pretty well. I get rid of the powder and I hand pick the little black stones and also get rid of them. The crushed remains of the peppercorns shell is the only thing that I save and put in a jar for later use. Sprinkle some over mapo tofu and it’s delicious. But you have to prepare them properly, otherwise it won’t taste good because the leftover powder and little black stones don’t taste pleasant at all.
