It started off so good
I upgraded to a Fitbit charge 5 and was really excited to get it. Well after about a year, the battery drops out, it’s different value than in the app. I plug it in and it tells me I have plenty of battery so I wonder what the issue is. A minute after disconnecting from the charger (I didn’t really need it connected) the screen goes black again. It doesn’t wake up when I move my wrist, or if I press it. It’s stopped recording my sleep, well stopped recording everything really as it turns itself off. Same thing happens, I plug it in to charge and it says it has 41% so why did it go blank? I have restarted the device, completely deleted the device, tried everything and it still doesn’t play ball. I am now returning to my Vido tracker that came from Poundland, it’s older than my Fitbit and still working great. It was £15!!!

Fantastic value as a GOOD first fitness tracker
Yes you can get cheapo fitness watches 30% the price of the Charge 5 (UK), but I tried one of those last year and it was a total waste of time. Display was virtually invisible in daylight, accuracy was poor and functions very limited. The Charge 5 is head and shoulders above them. The display is awesome, the navigation easy to use and intuitive and the supporting phone app very informative and helpful. Of course, it doesn't offer the accuracy and functionality of apple and android super smart watches, but frankly, I am not there yet. (I dont really need functions that I use my phone for on my watch as well). My wife was so impressed with the positive impact the watch had on my fitness regime she got one as well! She loves it just as much as I do.I bought a different strap as I did not get on with the rubber one it came with (I have sensitive skin) but that was no big deal. My wife was super happy with hers. Battery life is amazing. We leave our watches on day and night and only charge once every five days or so... We've had the watches over a month now and have no regrets - though I am told not to expect much more than 18 months 2 years life expectancy. Time will tell and maybe I will update this review as and when it expires! If you're looking for a good entry level fitness watch to help kickstart your health plans then look no further.Pete (UK)

Great tracker, rubbish strap
I love this Fitbit so much. It was a long overdue upgrade from my Alta HR and I didn’t want a smartwatch since I always have my phone with me. I just needed a good tracker and this is exactly that. It’s easy to setup, use and sync and I like the additional ECG feature. Battery life is excellent - I charge once a week at best. Also it’s waterproof and automatically tracks my swims as well as other exercises. Tracking can be set manually too or turned off altogether. The strap however isn’t great. I liked the white however after about 4 weeks daily use, I noticed my skin was irritated and peeling. I switched to a non-branded fabric strap and my skin returned to normal with no scars. Great Fitbit, but beware of the non-breathable strap (hence -1 star)

Love it
This is my first activity tracker and totally love it. The only downside is having to pay for additional functions however that worth it if they are used to you and you're going to use them. Quite intuitive to use and is discrete and very easy to wear.

Runs out of battery in under 6 hours.
Fitbit has an issue with the charge 5 where some of them will not keep a charge for longer than 5-6 hours. This is a big minus since one of the biggest draws for the fitbit over alternatives is their ability to keep a charge for about 6 days. They know they have this issue and they do not disclose it to buyers upfront, which is not surprising, but still incredibly annoying. I did not come across this in any reviews and so I was left to find this was a known issue only after I got mine. They just hope the device will work and they will talk you through a series of steps to see if rebooting the Fitbit will fix it, they know it is unlikely to fix it at all, and all they can offer is to send you a refurbished one, which might or might not work, or give you a 50% discount for another device, which will effectively leave you worse off.The least they could do is offer to send you the other expensive device they know works if you agree to pay the difference, but of course, they will not do that.In my experience, this was a massive waste of money and not worth it at all, I can use my super old galaxy watch which keeps its charge for just over 24 hours and leave it to charge when I shower, and while it took me a while to get used to the Samsung health app, now I like it better than fitbit and they do not keep trying to upsell me to any premium app, which I do not think is worth it at all either, especially given the prices of te trackers.

Absolutely fine.
I was sceptical of upgrading my fitbit charge 3 to the 5 after reading many of the reviews. However, I am very pleased I did.Like many others, I initially had issues with the battery drain. At first, my battery would only last a day. After clicking the reset button on the device,(which doesn't lose any of your data) it's been fine. My fitbit now holds charge for a week-sometimes more.A massive bonus for me is the screen as I can now see it in all weathers and keep track of my workouts much easier. Personally, I find the strap much more comfortable than previous models. The added bonus of the ECG monitor also makes this a great buy.For £109, I think this Fitbit is a great price considering all the features it encompasses- and in my opinion it's a good upgrade from previous models.
