This helps me avoid hauling a ladder out in winter.
I never liked changing batteries in winter, since piled-up snow and (later) mud, make that a serious pain. When I found out that they make a remote battery pack, I jumped at it and after some setup issues requiring a full reset, it has worked perfectly. I lost my historical data, but that's pretty low on the list of concerns, given the greatly improved access to the batteries. The cable is more than long enough for my needs, and the "fake battery" plug fits tightly and properly in the sensor unit.I would highly recommend this extension pack to anyone who either cannot or doesn't want to climb a ladder to change batteries. For me, climbing a ladder is not a big deal, but hauling it out in winter is now a thing of the past.

Best not use batteries at all. Put two voltage regulators from an old wall wart on this instead.
I have had my Acurite 02064 weather station for about four months (bought here at Amazon). I have been running it on Weewx software on a Raspberry Pi which gives much more realistic account of what the Acurite is doing than "myAcurite" would give*. Weewx monitors signal quality from the outdoor sensors and displays it on a graph. Most notable trend this summer was, as the batteries aged the signal would go out usually in the afternoon when components in the station heated up. After a month, I got the remote battery holder. Now I could change batteries often, and I had to. The heating problem persisted but started up after the batteries had been in use less time than without the remote holder. That makes sense because the battery voltage drops along the long wires between the station and the remote holder, so new batteries start at a lower voltage and go lower with age.So I got a little (one amp) twelve volt wall wart and connected two voltage regulators (available at Amazon - search for eBoot 6 pack LM2596 DC to DC buck converter) and tweaked their potentiometers so the output voltage was 3.5 volts, high enough to give "new battery" voltage to the station that wouldn't go lower with time. Perfect! Not a glitch in signal quality so far. It hasn't been tested in the hottest summer temperatures, but it's the best this weather station has ever performed. The remote battery holder is marked with two batteries in "bank 1" and two batteries in "bank 2". Within the banks one side shorts the batteries together (easily seen) and the other side has separate connectors. Connect the voltage regulators to the side where the batteries would NOT be shorted together, one regulator for each bank. That's all there is to it.* It seems to me that "myAcurite" (the Windows software meant by Acurite to be used with this station) just keeps displaying the last received data when its sensors are not communicating (as though that were currently accurate) and falsely reports that it is continuing to receive data.

Remote battery pack is a great accessory.
I wanted to mount the AcuRite weather station on my shed with a short mast but was concerned about changing batteries 12 feet above ground. Then I found this remote battery pack. It installed easily and works as required. There are 2 things to be aware of during installation. 1 The remote battery adapter needs to be aligned carefully into the station battery compartment and snaps in hard. 2 Be attentive when snapping the 3 cable clips into the sensor housing because once they snap in they can't be removed to reposition. The 30 feet of cable is plenty long.

Good buy!
Easy to install. Works great and makes battery change easier.

No more climbing up the side of the house.
I can now change the Batteries In my Accu Rite Iris on the side of the house versus climbing on the roof. the unit end snaps tight into the battery compartment & the rest mounts on a wall of your choosing (there is 30 feet of cable from the unit to the battery compartment).

Essential if you have a roof or higher mount!
What an Idea!I just got this one and installed it.The install is super easy; just like putting in batteries. The card is very long to accommodate those that are going to the max 33' or so.Since I didn't go that high I just tucked the left over cord inside the mast to make a neat finish. Now when it's time to install new batteries, I can just walk up to it at ground level and put the batteries in which my wife loves.Even though I'm in great shape, it would be a shame to have a fall from the roof one day trying to change the batteries out of my 5 in 1 weather station.Great product but should be incorporated in new versions as the added cost would still have the 5 and 1 at a very competitive price.
