Awesome solution to poor quality keys
Works great! Lexus quality is A1 except their keys - this generation is junk. These are a perfect replacement, only downside is they didn’t put the “LOCK” and “UNLOCK” writing on the key case so you can’t tell which button is for what.

Economical and sturdy. Easy to insert the key. Have used it for a couple of years and still it looks good.

WORKS WITH IS300
I will start off by saying this shell works with IS300 cars. To go into further detail, their last key shell was too big and the key wouldn't come out because it couldn't be pushed in and turned due to the size. Well this one has the rounded corners so that it matches the factory key, its actually a bit narrower than the factory key therefore, leaving enough space for the key to be pushed in and turned off/removed. The case feels like its made out of some pretty tough plastic it comes with 4 screws, a small handle to be used with the bit to screw the screws in. when I received the case I put the fob in, which requires you to snap it into place, so push it in until you hear a small click type of noise. Then I put the key in, which fits kind of loose so you have to hold it in place while you install the other half of the case and the screws, but I did not put the screws in to test it out and make sure I could remove the key when the car was turned off. Once I tested it out and everything worked like a charm I installed the screws. The holes for the screws seem to not be pre threaded, so when you install the screws you're actually creating the threads as you screw them in for the first time. The 2 sides to this is 1. Since I wasn't aware of this I found the screws harder to screw them in, making me believe I was doing something wrong, but once I figured it out I had no issues. This will make the screws tighter and less prone to back off over time. The bad side is that if you're not paying attention or aware of this you can install the screws crooked which could bother some people like me who like their stuff to be done correctly. I did notice that the side of the key "bottom side" doesn’t seal completely, and you can see the part of the key that is in the case. The key itself isn't loose and doesn't move so I don't know if this is due to the key cutout being too small or what. But since the key doesn't move it didn't bother me much. This is a great alternative to getting a new key cut which could cost you from $30-$60 depending on your location. Now keep in mind this is only a case, which will let you install your old key fob (if not damaged or lost) and your old already cut key. If you need a new fob due to lost or damage and still have another fob that works, you can get a new fob and program it using the other fob that still works. If you do not have any fob that is already programed, you will most likely have to take your car to the Lexus dealership and get a new ECU/programmed key. If you have a working fob I highly suggest you get a new fob and program it yourself in case you loose/break the other one. This is a great item and I will definitely get another one to have as back up. Thanks to Stauber for making this great item that will save me a few bucks on the flip side. And if you would like to test any other case please let me know.

Finally..Great Solution to a Nagging Lexus Problem
Sometimes a new product comes along and you wonder why on one has thought of it before. Like others who provided feedback, my wife's Lexus RX 330 key fob keeps breaking after a couple of years. Until now, you really only had 2 solutions. Go to a Lexus dealer and get new key FOB for two hundred dollars or buy a shell with a blank key and find someone to to laser cut the key for twenty dollars or so. Both of these solutions are poor because all Lexus key FOB's eventually break. Having a broken key means that you could be stranded. This product is quite ingenious because it utilizes the existing key. You do not have to take a blank key and try to find a locksmith who can do laser cuts (if you are lucky). The Stauber plastic shell seems much stronger than any replacement Lexus FOB's. I did take one star off because the metal part of my key is not shaped like a "T". It is straight which explains why some feedback suggested that their metal key will just fall out. My key is not the original Lexus key which could explain why the difference.I do not give up easily. I copied a post where the person drilled a hole in the plastic shell to add in a 5th screw to hold metal key. As a safety measure, I also put some J-B Weld glue to the metal key area on one side of the shell (see photos). I also used the 2 shims provided. I've tested the new key fob and it works like a charm. Now that I know that this is a great solution, I just ordered 2 more as backups. Thanks Stauber!
