Used chicken scissors to cut the flange trim. Very easy.Can work as a standalone drain cover. Comes with glue if you want to glue the flange (we opted not to glue it). Insteat, we to placeed underneath the legacy metal drain cover that screws down. Fits flush beneath the old drain cover. The main unit is threaded and comes with an attached "handle" to unscrew from the flange.Easily manages the volume of one valve, but will struggle slightly if you have a two-valve shower system (because there will be twice the water flow). Our two valve shower has a sunken 4" pan - and when both water valves are open, water will accumulate about 1/2" deep - but drains very fast once we turn off one valve, even though the other valve is still running. We view this as a positve as it allowes fresh water to accumulate in the corners of our 6'x3' shower (will save us cleaning time).System uses a magnet to close the valve when not in use. Weight of water will open the valve.Very pleased.

I purchased it based on the specs indicated and it was a good buy. However, if there is a good amount of water pressure it slowly drains the water but in reasonable time. May not be best for a bathroom as well, as it requires a bit of continuous cleaning due to scum build up.

I purchased this because I had bugs crawling up through the floor drain in shower in my master bedroom. No matter what I did to clean the drain to get rid of them, they always returned. Since installing this I have not seen a single bug in months. Couldn't be happier. Please know that of you currently have a cover for your drain that you will want to use it still to go over this. The center piece will sometimes float up if it gets filled with hair. The mechanism still works great when it does. You will notice that water will start to pool at the drain so it is time to clean it.

The valve itself looks ok and has a unique sealing mechanism...as long as debris doesn't get stuck on the seal. My complaint is that the outer/gray plastic part of the valve is way too hard of a material. If you have to cut it down to a smaller diameter use EXTREME caution...and go SLOW. Even though I did this (it's mentioned in at least one other review)....It still cracked inwards...versus following the indented/circular groves made for this purpose. A softer plastic would have prevented this.PS No instructions and the included glue (?) was only marked in Chinese--I tossed it and used silicone sealant for mine. I'll update this post once I get some actual shower drain experience with it.

installed in floor drain in shower. was willing to put up with slow draining as long as odor problem was solved. after a few weeks this product was no longer blocking drain odor very disappointed as this was 2 days after return deadline.DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY 11/19/24

this product works great for me. i live in a tiny home with no pee trap in the shower. I also only have a small 20 gallon hot water heater and use a low pressure shower head with low water adjustment turned down to save water since I enjoy my hot showers.. this product drains good even with low water pressure going in the drain.. the only time it drains slower for me is because hair has accumulated in the hair catcher.. once cleaned it drains great and back to normal.. the cleaning is very easy, just pop off the drain cap in shower and clean filter and unscrews the valve and check to make sure no hair is there to be cleaned out,, very easy and quick just a few minutes of my time.. i do recommend this item if your willing to do quick maintenance on it.. 5 stars for me,, it was needed,, no more smell,,

I had flies and a very stinky smell that was worse when I took a shower, so bad we didn't use the connecting bedroom, tried everything except pumping the septic tank, this was easy to install, and I would buy this again in a heartbeat. Did I mention this thing is awesome, sleeping good now, have awesome non stinky showers too, no smell yessssssss

I was happy with the result. Eliminated the sewage odors as advertised. Didn’t back up like others stated. Of course you have to clean the hair when you see it. Otherwise no issues.Toughest part is cutting it to size. Others were correct in saying it breaks easily when cutting so it cracks all the way through to the base area. Still managed to salvage it and it works well.
