Serene and calming
I use this as a night light because I am night blind. It gives off a good amount of ambient light. It's very soothing. I will say that it took a good amount of finagling to get the globe to float and spin. But once it's floating it does it's thing on its own.

Pretty cool!
Got it for my father for Christmas and he likes. Moon lamp floats over its base and slowly turns. I had a little trouble positioning the moon on the magnetic track to get it to float but once its set, the moon glows and spins. Perfect night light for when you have to get up in the middle of the night. Light does turn off when you touch the base.

Don't get frustrated with initially positioning the globe. It'll work and you'll love it!
This is, among other things, a perfect little night light for your office. The perfect height above the base is about 1/4". The magnets are strong, if you're off, it will pull strongly on the base. Position directly above the center at a 1/4" with the base of the globe directly down and you'll be good to go. There is a power button looking sensor touch on the base. It is a toggle only for the light. On off three times goes from white/off, to warm white/off, to warm orange/off. The globe will always be turning slowly counterclockwise, lights on or off. The sensor switch is only to turn on/off the light. This thing is mesmerizing. The globe has various thicknesses, when lit up approximate the sight of the moon. This is waaaaay cool little gadget!!! Perfect gift for those who thought they had "everything they need or don't need". Highly recommended!! Place it off to the side of your desk and every once in awhile, you'll catch yourself staring at it!!

Can't get it floating
Can't get it floating, it's immediately pulled to the base station.

How long should one expect the Moon/Globe to function?
It worked great for 8-9 months but now (March 15 - 24th, 2025) it won’t stay floating more than 30 minutes and then it crashes and is very difficult to get floating again. I really liked it but I’m not sure I want to spend $100 every 8-9 months!

Fascinating to watch
The media could not be loaded. We use this as a decoration on a shelf is fascinating to watch and it works really well. It is not as hard to get started as people think or people say in the reviews. You're just have to have patience. Hold it with both hands and get it centered. It will take off by itself. The only thing is it is a little high priced for what you get. Otherwise it is fascinating.

It is worth the patience.
First of all, be prepared to take a long time to get this thing to levitate. But the more you do it, the easier it gets.Secondly, I am impressed at how accurate this model is. No, it is not a detailed globe of the moon for close up examination. It represents the moon as viewed from some distance. Some craters are very identifiable some are small and blend in. It is very impressive. There are three light levels that you can adjust with a touch on the power button. Orange, light orange and white. The orange actually resembles the orange hue it takes on when the moon rises and the white is how it would look at full phase and bright.
