I use this tool to cut 3/8" wood dowels for my craft projects and it works well. I had to get used to it as I pinched the skin on the palm of my hand between the handles when I first used it. I didn't do that again after I mastered it. Sharp blades and it makes cutting the dowels simple and clean (and I don't have to use a saw).

I purchased this cutter to cut three-quarter inch PVC pipe. First, it cuts the pipe very easily; the sharp blade goes through the PVC without much effort. Second, the angled blade comes to a point where it first makes contact with the pipe as you squeeze the handle, pushing the blade gradually into the PVC.On my first few cuts, however, I noticed that the cut ends were not square as I made cuts while holding the pipe stationary. Depending on how much pressure I used, the end might be quite angled. Then I tried something different. Squeezing the handles very lightly, I rotated the pipe, creating a score around the pipe. I continued to rotate as I squeezed until I’d cut all the way through the pipe, leaving a square end with a nicely finished edge.I didn’t find this technique described anywhere on the packaging but it worked time and again.I’m very happy with my purchase and highly recommend this product for cutting PVC.

Broke it on my first pvc cut !!

I have a small freeze drying business that focuses on candy and since most candy types need to be cut at least in half, even my sharpest knife isn’t adequate. I’ve used this on some caramel types, and it’s like cutting butter. I’m excited to try it on Jolly Ranchers! Does it work well on PVC….I don’t know; I have another cutter for that.

These work really well for cutting candy for Freeze drying. The pointed blade prevents the candy from shooting across the counter and they coated blade prevents sticking. I do wipe the blade with a small amount of vegetable oil just to help. After cleaning I also put a small amount of vegetable oil on the hinge pin to prevent rust. The only issue I have is the retaining clip that keeps them closed folds into the handle and is difficult to get out if you don't have long fingernail to scoop it out. I always have to find something to help dig it out to keep them closed for safety. But this is not a deal breaker.

Needs more hand pressure for larger 3/4" size PVC 40 pipe. Should be okay for smaller size thin wall plastic pipe used in house plumbing
