Just the right level
I'm really enjoying 01 Conversations in Simple Italian. It doesn't actually feel like you are studying as you are so engrossed in the book. The story isn't the most sophisticated but that's fine because it helps to cement natural Italian so you can hold a reasonable conversation when the time comes. My tip would be to read Ollly's introduction and explanation on the methodology being used and when you start to read, resist the temptation to look up words that you don't yet know. Read each small conversation several times and then allow yourself to look up words so that you can move on.

Bite-sized chapters, short but sweet
I've found most books in Italian can be hard going, but this one is easy to read, yet challenging enough to hold my attention and keep me reading. After a quick read-through, I'm reading it again, but this time out loud. I'd recommend this as it's helping me get used to speaking naturally and building my confidence to talk to Italian speakers. Try it, I think you'll enjoy it.

A great reader for Italian learners
These short conversations are actually a story broken into short passages of dialogue. The story is easy enough to understand but is complex enough to actually be interesting. If you are A1 Italian you should be able to get the gist of what is going on even if you don't understand every word on first reading. Olly's method will help your Italian reading improve significantly. If you like Olly's short stories you will like this.I have bought the intermediate level book having read this but would buy a further beginners book in the series if one was published.

Worthwhile
Engaging story. Enjoyed the layout of the short chapters helping to make reading both easy and stimulating. Something that is important to me in Olly’s work is his commitment to standardisation of material helping the student to reach similar level of knowledge in many languages. The range of vocabulary in the 101 books are within the grasp of most readers. Looking forward to the audio.

Worth a read.
I found it to be a bit repetitive but I suppose repetition is the key to learning a language. The story was pretty basic and predictable and the quality of the book itself isn't the best as the cover was peeling. Overall it's a decent language learning book and I liked having the half blank page on every chapter so I could add my own notes on stuff I wasn't sure about.

A great way to learn Italian
I love the Storylearning method to learn Spanish a years ago and found both 101 conversation books and audiobooks invaluable.I wanted to learn enough Italian for a holiday to Italy. The combination of this book and the Coffee break Italian podcasts has certainly achieved this goal. This time around I used the Spanish versions to help me learn the new Italian vocabulary!I found the whole language learning process much easier this time around and have naturally picked up on new grammar points such as past and conditional tenses, object pronouns, the correct use of prepositions and even ne and ci.

Fun way to review and consolidate everyday conversational vocabulary
After a few failed attempts at learning Italian (I gave up after getting bored), I've now been studying an hour or so every day for three or four months (thanks to Olly Richards and other authors/methods) and think I'm making good progress. The idea of following a story over several episodes appealed to me. Here we meet two young amateur sleuths eager to find out who has been stealing works of art. Although not quite on a par with Inspector Montalbano as regards entertainment value, it's much easier to understand! The dialogues are short (neither too hard, nor too easy) with a useful glossary (if you haven't managed to guess the meaning of new words from the context) at the end of each "Conversation".The stated level is A2 and that seems to be an accurate description. I would never have been able to understand these texts a few months ago so it makes me proud to think I can now get considerably more than just the gist at a first reading. I haven't solved the mystery yet as I'm only a third of the way through the "101 Conversations" and although I have an idea of "whodunnit" I'll probably be wrong (I usually am) but it just encourages me to keep reading!I'm hoping to get the audio file, which might make it more challenging but maybe easier to embed the knowledge gained. Would definitely recommend.
