A simple idea
A simple idea that works, if you don't need your DVD drive or only use it once in a while, then this item is a great idea as the extra drive is stored in the laptop. Recommend yes as it does a good job at a cheap price.

Perfect solution for adding an SSD to an HP280 G2 SFF
I needed to add a second drive to my HP280 G2 SFF PC and replacing the CD/DVD drive was the cheapest solution as a SATA power cable for this PC was £20.Caddy is quite flimsy but does the job, fits perfectly and holds the SSD with four screws (provided) securely.PC recognized the drive easily and now I can dual boot between Windows and Batocera easily. For the price definitely recommended.

It's a caddy and it works
Used this the caddy as part of an upgrade to an old Dell laptop. Added some extra memory, swapped the hard drive for an SSD, used the caddy to remove the CD drive and add a second SSD for dual booting Windows 10 with Manjaro Linux. The caddy works well and I'm very pleased with it. The build quality isn't the best, but fitting was easy and with the old CD drive bezel fitted onto it it's not visible. Its given the laptop a new lease of life.

Very cheap quality, very cheap price but it works well.
I have it installed in the 9.5mm optical drive bay of a Dell Precision T7820 and it worked straight away, no problems. I was a little concerned it would be recognised as an optical disk drive in Windows 11 because the SATA cable it's connected to goes to a designated optical disk drive port on the motherboard but it shows up as an internal data disk, so no issues. Read/write speeds on CrystalDiskMark were 560MB/s or thereabouts so the controller is capable of SATA3 SSD speeds. However, the physical quality of the actual unit is hilariously bad. It's also slightly different to what is currently pictured on the Amazon listing. The metal parts are so thin that they could bend just by looking at them. Not sure if it is actually metal or some sort of metal-looking card but just handling it was causing it to warp out of shape. The pins/screws to hold the drive in place are not what is pictured. What I received was just 4 short screws that don't even fit into a 2.5 inch HDD or SSD. There's also nowhere on the unit to even attempt to put screws through without first taking the whole thing apart. I tried this and there was still nowhere to put the screws through so I currently just have my SSD in the unit only held by the connector. Fortunately on my PC it slides into a bay that holds the SSD firmly in place anyway, so I'm not particularly bothered. The front bezel I received is just a plain black one with no marking on it, unlike what is pictured. I'll admit I actually prefer the way it looks, however it wasn't simple to attach it without damaging the flimsy unit but I got there in the end.3/5 because at least it works, looks quite good on my PC and it was appropriately cheap to buy. If you're looking for a solid, high quality unit then look elsewhere. If you're ok with something cheap and cheerful then this will probably do a decent job.

Garbage product. Disappointing
It bend during installing the ssd in it. It is such a bad quality product that in the end ended in the bin as I couldn’t bend it back to fit. It is like thin foil material that even with extra care bent. Total garbage would not recommend at all
