Sturdy, quick and easy to use...
Jan 29, 2019 -- This is my fourth reorder for the My-Cap Foils to Reuse Capsules for the Nespresso VertuoLine Brewers. I highly recommend them to anyone who, like me, loves the convenience of instant espresso-like coffee, but wants to save money, doesn’t like the Nespresso coffees, and/or wants to reduce waste. The hardest part of using these foil toppers is removing the original foil and film from the Nespresso VertuoLine capsules. It's not hard, it just requires a bit of patience. Using tweezers, it takes a few minutes per capsule, but the My-Cap foil topper still works even if I can't remove 100% of the Nespresso foil.We keep some Nespresso coffee in the house for when all of our reused capsules are dirty and I don't have time to clean them. However, we have gone from ordering 90 Nespresso capsules a month, to ordering 90 once every 3-4 months. I could actually not order any Nespresso coffee if I stayed on top of cleaning the used capsules on a regular basis. My personal coffee blend is way better than the Nespresso coffee. My husband and I both prefer the coffee I make with a reused capsule. I blend 2+ coffee/espresso blends and get a deliciously smooth and well-balanced cup of coffee that I don't mind drinking black. My husband can always tell when he got Nespresso coffee and will ask what I did different because it tastes bitter. For anyone interested, I’ll put my coffee blend below…I followed another reviewers' advice about using the hard tip of the My-Cap brush to smooth the foil down onto the capsule and it has worked 100% of the time without fail. I have not experienced any overflowing grounds, or torn foil after placing the capsule in the Nespresso brewer. Sometimes, I slip while smoothing the foil down and end up tearing the foil, but that's my fault. I really should pre-prep the capsules before I go to bed so I don't have to make a capsule while I'm half asleep and my dexterity is at 50% efficiency. These My-Cap foil toppers have saved my husband and me so much money on coffee. And! I can finally enjoy a decent shot of smooth, not bitter espresso without leaving home. I highly recommend.**********************************My personal coffee blend: In a large, sealable container, combine one bag of Starbucks ground espresso roast and one can of Illy ground espresso dark roast in a large container and mix well... I use an old, large Folgers can that I picked up from work when it was empty. The Illy balances the Starbucks beautifully. On their own, they make good espresso, but combined, they’re like the Captain Planet of espresso coffees. My husband likes flavored coffees, like HEB's cinnamon hazelnut. I use a mason jar to mix a 50/50 ratio of my espresso blend and his flavored coffee. Even though the flavored coffee isn’t an espresso roast, it still turns out really good. I can’t taste the flavored Nespresso coffees, but I can always taste the flavors of my personal blends.***Prepping a capsule: For making a large capsule, I find about 2.5 tbsp of our coffee mix is perfect for the large capsules. Measurements will vary based on the size of the coffee grind. Ideally, finer/espresso ground coffees should be used. French press ground coffee will taste weak and watery.1) Scoop 1 tbsp at a time, gently pressing down between scoops.2) After filling the capsule, use a tamper or something flat to gently tamp the coffee into the capsule.3) If there are any grounds on the rim of the capsule, a careful tap on the sides of the capsule holder is generally all I need to get any stray grounds off the rim and back in the capsule. Otherwise, use the My-Cap brush.4) Apply the My-Cap foil topper and use the point of the brush handle to smooth it down on the rim and around the sides of the capsule. I don't fold it all the way under, and it doesn't need to be. The foil topper stays on and the coffee is perfectly brewed as long as it's smoothed down on the rim and around the sides. When I have everything organized and ready to go, I can make two cups of coffee in just a few minutes. The second capsule comes together while the first cup is brewing.**I hope this helped someone.**

Work perfectly every time
It really worked! Dozens of times—works perfectly. I highly recommend. Now I can have my favorite coffees with my Nespresso. They taste better with the classic Nespresso foamy richness. Great product!

Yes I want to make my own Nespresso!a
So the My-Caps foils are a great buy if you have a Nespresso VertuoLine Brewer. I have been using these for about 3 years now and I love them. You get 100 in a pack, so it does not take much time to make your moneys worth.Just be careful to check if your Nespresso machine works with the pod tops. I currently have a VertuoPlus and they work fine. I also have used a Evoluo and that also has had no issues with the tops. This is my process:1. Pulling the foil off a used pod is quick and easy and a pod can be re-used at least 6+ times before you wear off the bar code at the bottom of the pod. I do this with my darker pods as the barcode controls who the coffee is made and in my experience the pods that originally held dark coffees work the best.2. I Refill my pods all at once with my favorite coffee that i grind myself. I have found the stronger the coffee the better for the pods and if you are grinding the coffee yourself, go with a setting just above espresso, seems to work the best for me at least.3. Use your coffee spoon to pat the coffee down so its lightly packed in the pod.4. The foil tops stick on easily, and the only small issue i have is placing them in the correct location, but you get better with that over time.5. Place the pod into the holder if you have one. You can buy the My-Caps holder, but I found that a Vegemite glass jar fits the pod perfectly (Yes, I'm Australian).6. Use your finger to rub around the sides of the foil, then run your finger around the top of the cap on the edges to fully. press the sticky seal down on the top of the pod.Once you get in the swing of things you can make and seal a pod every 30 seconds or so. I make a weeks worth at a time, this way it you use the pods just like you would normally, no waiting.Note: Every now an again a pod will be rejected by the machine. There are 2 reasons for this that I have found.1. The foil is covering the barcode on the bottom of the pod rim. Just move any foil that is covering the code and try it again.2. The barcode has worn down. This happens when you use a pod a few times. They were never designed to be used more than once, but i have found this happens after 5 or 6 uses depending on the machine you have.So give the My-Cap foil tops a chance. You will not be disappointed and it makes an already great machine even better, because it is cheaper per cup and you get to use your own coffee.
