Dupli-Color VHT HWP106 Wheel Matte Clear Coat

Actually used on a model, it worked perfectly, went on really nice. Correct sheen. it was recommended by an expert builder on YouTube, can't really say anything about it's intended usage.

I used this clearcoat spray over brand new wheels that I had sprayed with high quality gold wheel paint. I allowed more than 24 hours for the final coat of paint to cure before applying this clear. Conditions were ideal, my shop was about 71°, I started with a light coat on the wheels and almost immediately I could see tiny cracks forming on the surface. I’m extremely disappointed, I spent several days prepping these wheels with utmost care. I wanted to have a durable matte clearcoat to ensure the paint would last through several winters. Now, I’ve got 4 gold wheels with what looks like crinkle finish surfaces. I’ll have to wait for the clear to cure before wet sanding and applying some clearcoat from a different brand, all the while praying that the new clearcoat will not negatively react the way this stuff did. I’ve been working on cars and doing paint work for 30+ years, I’ll be sure to never pick up another can of this stuff.
