PentaxHD Pentax DA 16-85mm Lens for Pentax KAF Cameras

A super lens, it would have deserved a super 5 if it wasn't for the autofocus, which can get lost at night, with far measurement. All in all, I'm not sure if it's the lens or the body.If you have money, you take photos with Pentax, this is one of those must have lenses. I attached it to the body and I don't unhook it. And one more thing, it is a pity that it is not with constant light, but with this quality of pictures it is forgivable.Why the next stupid question in the survey. Who said this is a landscape lens? This is zoom, short but zoom, you can landscape, but you can also street, architecture, sport, what "smart intellectuals" wrote this survey.The question should be: How does it work in your photography? No matter what kind of photography, whether the lens works, it's what I needed.

Das Fazit gleich vorweg: Wahrscheinlich eine wirksamere Investition für die Bildqualität als der Ersatz einer fünf Jahre alten Kamera durch ein aktuelleres Modell.Man hört ja über praktisch alle Hersteller von einer gewissen Streuung bei der Objektivqualität. Also spricht im Falle entsprechender Zweifel nichts gegen eine Garantiereparatur. Danach besitzt man mit dem 16-85 das wohl beste Universalzoom der Pentax-Geschichte. Seitdem bin ich mitunter nur noch mit diesem einen Objektiv unterwegs und mein Fotogepäck ist spürbar leichter.Insbesondere schlägt es die Schärfe des 18-135 deutlich. Man verzichtet also auf den Bereich 85-135 zugunsten von besseren Bildern. Das bestätigen auch Profis in aufwendigen Testberichten. Die Farben bei Sonnenschein finde ich intensiver als bei meinen bisherigen Kit-Objektiven. Eine Kombination mir der Pentax-Voreinstellung "Leuchtend" wäre dann oft also zuviel des "Guten".Allerdings wurden beide Objektive für APS-C optimiert und nicht für das Vollformat der K-1.Zum Verstauen kann man die Streulichtblende verkehrt herum aufsetzen. Sie verträgt sich übrigens mit dem Objektivdeckel. Bei meinem Sigma-Macro ist das nicht der Fall.In unserer Wegwerfgesellschaft muss man auf die Idee einer Reparatur kurz nach einem Kauf erst mal kommen. Aber es gibt noch einige wenige Pentax-Spezialwerkstätten. Einige Tage Ausfall muss man dann verschmerzen.Falls meine Rezension bei der Einschätzung des Artikels hilft, würde ich mich über einen Klick auf "JA" freuen!

I am not a professional photographer, but have been a hobbyist for more than 40 years. This produces beautiful, clear images, with lovely backgrounds. I am sure there are technical terms that I do not know (sorry for those who prefer them) but as a lens it is reponsive, and I have gotten beautiful images. A good focal range for holiday shooting, working well with the Pentax KP (and K5). I am not sure I have any negative comments so to speak - it is my favorite lens and the one I leave on the camera. Even my beginning attempts at astrophotography are improved. Really happy.

In process of returning lens as didn't deliver on expectations and issue with zoom:1. The zoom sticks from time to time at the start of extending and there's slight resistance at the end too - pretty sure it's the weather sealing that catches. Not sure if it upset performance but it was distracting and irritating. I've heard of others with zooms perfectly smooth throughout the range and yet others with zooms that stick slightly. Makes me question adequate quality control. I contacted Pentax and they gave varying responses to 'it shouldn't be like that' to 'try another lens of this type and see if it feels different'. Not the best help for a customer.2. Its a plastic body and didn't reek of quality. I've got some old manual lenses and it is remarkable how lovely they are to handle compared with such a new plastic lens. You've got to wonder if such a plastic lens will be going strong in 30 years time.3. Nice wide open and the lens has a reputation for being sharp. It is pretty sharp IMO, and maybe I've been spoilt with other lenses, but it was not as exceptional as I'd hoped for. As an example, I use a fujifilm x camera with its superior 18-55mm 'kit' lens which, while lacking the range of the Pentax, is faster and delivers better results. I was hoping for near prime performance and didn't feel it had this. Shame as the 16mm starting point gave a nice wide field of view.Perhaps my sample wasn't up to scratch. I wouldn't want to dissuade others from trying on the basis of my experience. I bought off Amazon marketplace so maybe the previous purchaser was disappointed too. It betters the Pentax kit zoom in range and sharpness, otherwise think I'll stick with my prime lenses, till something more tempting comes along.

Outstanding quality lens.. I replaced a Pentax 17-70 with it and the sharpness has gone up very visibly. I did some tests with a test pattern and you can really see it. Very well made, silent focus.
